Talk:Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area

Article expansion edit

Many regions like Kovalam and Sreekariyam are officially under the city limit now. But this article still shows those regions as part of UA. I request the editors to have a look in to this. --Samaleks (talk) 14:24, 14 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not a Metropolitan Area edit

A Metropolitan area should have more than 4 million population. Refer [1] [[2]] - Rahulpattuvam talk 06:44, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Agree – Having this in mind, I started a merge proposal long back for other cities/towns like Thrissur. A separate article shouldn't be there for this. Vensatry (Ping me) 07:41, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

There is no such thing as "Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area" edit

This article is totally misleading. There is nothing recognized officially as "Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area". It is just a hope of city residents that the city will become a metropolitan city one day. The creator of this article is trying to confuse the readers between "metropolitan area" and "urban agglomeration". It is true that Thiruvananthapuram is an UA but it is not same as a metropolitan area. Thiruvananthapuram UA does not include far lying municipalities Nedumangad, Attingal & Neyyattinkara. They are considered either seperate UAs or census towns since there are under-developed rural areas seperating these municipalities from Thiruvananthapuram corporation. There are many other numerous factual errors. For example, Vakkom is a small under-developed village which lies in the north-west side of Chirayinkeezhu town. That means Chirayinkeezhu lies in between Thiruvananthapuram city and Vakkom village. Then how come Vakkom part of Thiruvananthapuram "metropolitan area" while Chirayinkeezhu is not part of it. Another example is mountaneous village Aryanad. How crazy one should be to portrait a remote village such as Aryanad which lies near Neyyar dam in the mountain valley as part of the coastal city of Thiruvananthapuram? All these things are just imaginations of the creator of this article who is despirately wishing to see Thiruvananthapuram becoming a metropolitan city like other capital cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, etc.

The creator of this article may be wishing to see Thiruvananthapuram as a metropolitan area, but until the same come into being (and officially recognized), we cannot put it into Wikipedia. Because Wikipedia is not place for original research. Also, it is not a place to write down your hopes, dreams or expectations. So I request you to look into this matter seriously and immediately change the title of the article from "Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area" to Thiruvananthapuram urban agglomeration" and cut down all wrong informtion that mislead readers and make them believe that there exists a "metropolitan area" comprising city corporation, far lying municipalities and under-developed villages lying in between. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.66.153.133 (talk) 02:50, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
