Please remove the Notability tag. It is notable that Captain Theophilus Beebe was the first pilot to receive his branch pilot's license under the New Jersey Pilots' Commission on February 25, 1837. It is important we keep this history in our encyclopedia so others can read about it. Included are primary and secondary citations that support this claim.[1][2][3][4]

- Notability is still under review by editors at Template talk:List of Sea Captains and Pilots. I noted there that this was a claim to notability that the article makes (as opposed to many of the article which don't even attempt to provide such claims), but there is not yet consensus that being the first to get such a licence in and of itself meets any WP:N criteria. Death/birth
editWhen I Google, there are Theophilus Beebe in Sr, Jr, II, III, IV and such. Is there a reliable source that directly connects the pictured subject, as well as the birth/death date to the Theophilus Beebe that is of the subject in this article? It can not involve researching multiple PRIMARY sources by Henderson to draw the conclusion. Graywalls (talk) 07:28, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- The article, Captain Theophilus Beebe III is about an American Sandy Hook Pilot (1800-1866). His father was Theophilus D. Beebe II (1753-1837) and his grandfather was Theophilus Beebe I (1730-1793). Secondary sources include Pilot Lore, John A. Heffernan's First Pilots, Fishermen, and Pilots, The World Of Pilotage.
