L5 v NEO

edit

This might be a little pedantic, and I'm not sure how correct it is because I'm having trouble finding information on this subject online to see IIRC, but isn't "near earth orbit" a range of orbits much smaller than a orbit all the way out at L5?

Near Earth Orbit is a bit tricky to define, because it depends on who you are talking to. Some say that it extends out to 1,200 miles (2,000 kilometers) above the surface of the earth. But the common "Near Earth Orbit" definition also includes "Low Earth Orbit" (LEO) and part of the range that is considered "Medium Earth Orbit" (MEO) (which is typically considered to extend from about 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) to about 12,500 miles (20,000 kilometers) above the Earth's surface. Meanwhile the L4 and L5 Lagrangian Libration points are about 250,000 miles (400,000 km) from the earth. Adsmalley (talk) 03:14, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

split (2006)

edit

The overview should be at: The Way (Greg Bear) The other novels should be split off into Eternity (novel) and Legacy (novel) and The Way of All Ghosts should be created with the short story material.

Better Cover

edit

I saw a copy of Eon with a cover that was very nice, a very good artistic rendering of the Way. Was this the british edition, I think this cover would be more appropriate here(showing the actual Way).

Source Material

edit

While this article provides an excellent overview of the series, nearly all of the details are incorrect. Some of this stems from the conflicting source material (The Way had been opened for centuries before Olmy was born in Eon, but Olmy was 30 years old on the 25th anniversary of The Way in Legacy), but other portions are totally incorrect regarding the source material. One big example is that this article indicates that for every kilometer down the way, time goes back 1 year, when Eon explicitly states that for every 1000 (ish) kilometers down the way, time advances 1 year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.125.57.168 (talk) 04:31, 7 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

We get it - it's a _work of fiction_.

edit

"Within the universe of The Way", "was formed in the novels", " is explained in the novels", "In the book series,", "the fictional paper", "described by Bear ", etc etc
