What to put in article?
editThe film, script, and negatives are all lost, what can be put in this article? Wistchars (talk) 12:52, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- With a little research, especially in Japanese sources like Kinema Junpo or contemporary newspapers, one can put in a lot. Plot summaries, reviews, etc. exist. Michitaro (talk) 13:10, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Put it another way, is this actually a film which needs an encyclopedia article on it? Wistchars (talk) 13:38, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Please consult the notability guidelines at WP:NF. If you think this film does not satisfy any of these requirements (such as reviews or articles in Japanese national publications when it was released in 1934), you can nominate it for AfD. I just checked, but Chika Kinoshita spends several pages of her dissertation discussing a contemporary piece about this film, so that is proof that not only were there articles, there were articles worth discussing today. Unfortunately, Sasō Tsutomu's now 9-volume compilation of contemporary press on Mizoguchi's films has not reached Aizō Tōge yet, but it does show that by the 1930s, Mizoguchi was a major director whose films always got a lot of coverage.
