editThere seems to be no reason for especulative list of characters. Let´s please wait untill official word is given regarding the cast.
Supposed Screenshots
editI've deleted the character screenshots because they are obviously fake: Unreliable source. They all use the old sprites despite SNK claiming they will completely revamp them. The nature of the shots seems like they were deliberately taken so they are hard to make out. From what you can see of the HUD it seems to be exactly the same as the one used in KOFXI. Likely made using MUGEN. I don't completely rule out the possibility of these being real (beta shots?) but I would need a more realible source. All in all, these just look like hoaxes and don't belong on the main page. Mysterious Bob 13:58, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
You don't, but I do. It's completely obvious that they are fake pictures. In fact, they constitute almost an insult since SNKP has said clearly that they are going to change all the sprites and everything that has to do with the graphics and dump all the old and they intend to make it look like the "ultimate 2d fighting game". I assure that these are just pictures from a miserable mugen of KOF XI PabloG 18:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
The Characters
editThis is now completely out of hand. Nobody has any idea what the characters might be and whenever I visit this article there is a new list of "confirmed" characters. NO CHARACTERS HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED. Even Ash and Elizabeth aren't fully confirmed. This "rumoured characters" takes it to the next level. This page needs protecting. --Mysterious Bob 19:31, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. An image found on the internet of a magazine/flyer/whatever is not confirmation. I will revert, but I cannot protect. --Do Not Talk About Feitclub (contributions) 11:14, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Cellshade
edit"SNK Overseas Manager Yoshihito Koyama revealed the game is going to be 3D, but cel-shaded to look 2D." Now that's not really confirmed, and were only reported at kotaku, and few sites named their source as kotaku. It also goes against the previous statements, like it will be ps2 not ps3, etc. Many beleives it's not true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.199.152.244 (talk) 11:14, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, until someone over at SNK discredits Yoshihito Koyama it's still pretty plausible that this report is true. SNK never said anything regarding console plans before, so reports of it being ported to ps3 and 360 don’t contradict anything said before. Also, quoting an interview with SNK artist: Nona http://www.gamespot.com/news/6158355.html "We're throwing out the [character] pixels that we have been using for the past 10 years, and we are going with new graphics," Nona said. "We are hoping to make the ultimate 2D game." This could’ve been the graphical overhaul he was referring to, as the game can still play like a “2D” game but use 3D graphics. 66.177.86.18 14:02, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have edited the article to better reflect that cel-shading could just be speculation. It would be better if we can get a concrete source explicitly saying "yes" or "no", though. -MissingNOOO 10:12, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Looking on the KOF XII Japanese website, they are still hiring part-timers under the age of 30 to do: "ゲームソフト開発におけるグラフィックデザイン" and "キャラクター・背景等の作画等、主にドット絵の作業". Or in English: "Graphic design relating to game software development" and "Character backgrounds/art, etc., mostly dot picture work". This would seem to confirm that the characters will indeed still use pixel art, just not at same low-res work as the Neo Geo games (which is looking awfully low-res next to SFIII and fricken' Guilty Gear; also, there are fewer people qualified today that can produce the same quality work with a Neo Geo resolution and limited palette, I'm afraid, so I wouldn't blame them for re-vamping the sprites). —Preceding unsigned comment added by MissingNOOO (talk • contribs) 10:22, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
It's not true, and Kotaku should never be referenced as a credible news source on Wikiperdia. XII is 2D, not cellshaded, and used traditional pixels/sprites.
Judging by the trailer at the AOU 2008 this game is completely 2D. No cell-shading. No 3D backgrounds. The game hasn't been announced for the PS3 or Xbox360 either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.76.55.147 (talk) 20:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
KOFXII producer Masaaki Kukino tells Kotaku that the game is one hundred percent hand drawn. There is zero cell shading in The King of Fighters XII. http://kotaku.com/362913/holy-crap-king-of-fighters-xii-is-100-percent-hand-drawn —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.188.98.162 (talk) 17:01, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Kusangi
editIsn't he in the game? In the gameplay footage, there was a Kyo throwing a fireball similar to his 94' version. Kumori Shuuryou (talk) 02:08, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- It could just be a movelist shakeup. -Toptomcat (talk) 21:33, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah.. don't you know that Kyo himself can do it on KoF XI? - Mr.Yah! msg 14:16, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
`Poster image
editDoes anybody know a reliable source for the poster image that shows Daimon, Leona and Elizabeth? Its in the Wikia page but there is no source.Tintor2 (talk) 00:58, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Elizabeth was revealed along with Ash during the game's first announcements. Goro Daimon was announced on a promotional poster along with Terry and Leona. Leona is in the new scans that surfaced just recently along with Ralf, Robert and some others. Raiden's also in one of the new posters though still haven't been adeed to the article. You can't see his face because he has his back turned but it is undoubtedly him if you compare him to his appearance from other games.--Mgbenz (talk) 06:15, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Here's the poster with Raiden and Iori. Click. ->[1]--Mgbenz (talk) 06:26, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- The problem of these images is that we need a reliable source to confirm the characters.Tintor2 (talk) 17:36, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- If that image being an official poster clearly seen in the recent screenshots not enough of a reliable source then I don't know what is. You can see this poster again in the latest scans on Cyberfanatix. Also do you even bother to research on your own? You could simply visit Cyberfanatix and you'll know pretty much everything from there.--Mgbenz (talk) 19:48, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Andy, Raiden and Billy Lewis (from ROTD)
editAnyone has some reliable source on this? Because http://www.snk-capcom.com reported thoose characters, and we already know that stuff since months ago, but now they conformed it again. Plus they reported months ago the buffed up Ralf sprites, and a lot more things, and that was actually turned out true after AM Show, so I think they're a thrustable source... Or not? What do you think about it? --TaZaR 09:45, 22 September 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by TaZaR (talk • contribs)
Bosses, hidden characters & Endings?
editCan somebody get any screencaps or Info of the bosses, hidden Characters or endings for the game because I have not seen anything? --Jared Green 09:55, 23 April 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.140.128.142 (talk)
Read the article. There are no endings.Tintor2 (talk) 11:21, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
ATTN: Tintor2
editTalk page section rather than edit war. I'll just cut straight to the points in order.
1. Removal of "16" from the date: July 16 is the Japanese releaser date. July 7 is the American one. Here's the link. 2. Characters: Mature's eyepatch is worth mentioning. Why not, for one thing, and for another, because it's an obvious hint. It means Mature is probably alive. SNK said that they weren't going to make any characters for this one that couldn't be used in more KOF games. 3. Characters: Well, of course Mai and K' are not actually confirmed, but come on. Seen the picture? It's pretty bleedin' obvious. Worth mentioning the hint. 4. Downloadable content was mentioned alongside the arcade stick, which is by Exar, not SNK Playmore somewhere. Oh, maybe that was on GameFAQs, but speaking of GameFAQs, you can find all the sources you need there. But anyway, here's a source that shows that there is downloadable content: a movie on SNK's consumer website for the game. Look closely. You can see "PlayStation Store," which obviously means downloadable content.
Now, I can totally put this stuff (back) in if you let me know what the best way to use sources is. That's like the one thing I don't know how to do so well. --Gaming King (talk) 10:20, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- 1.Sounds good. 2. It is still a speculation WP: OR. Saying that she has a new outfit is enough. 3. Another speculation. There may be pictures but they havent been confirmed. 4. Then add the source.Tintor2 (talk) 15:21, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
UK Release?
editI've been wondering, but is the game really coming to the uk because I can't find it on any order website like Play.com, Game.co.uk or gamestation.com, so can somebody tell me if the uk are getting it and what friday in July is it? Thank.

- No idea. The source announcing the worldwide release did not specify what day. Other sources such as GameRankings and Amazon give different dates (Amazon: 28, GameRankings: 20) even though they are supposed to be reliable. It seems the only source we can use to source the date is a primary source such as SNK or the latest news regarding the release.Tintor2 (talk) 14:47, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- It came out in the UK yesterday. (25 September, 2009)--Guru Larry (talk) 15:25, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, official UK release date was the 25th of September. Trying to edit the article to include this was a bit of a mess though, maybe next time someone who knows what they're doing reads this they can update the release date? -- Toby.e.hawkins (talk) 15:28, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

The Final Four Characters?
editI just want to know, since the game has come out in the US on the 23rd. Who are the last four characters, since the game was said to have 26 characters, so who are they?
((Jared Green)) 11:15, 24 July 2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.163.132.90 (talk)
- We'll have to ask someone who has the game. Who knows? Maybe they couldn't add new characters.Tintor2 (talk) 01:45, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- Now that I rechecked, sources say that the game will released on July 28.Tintor2 (talk) 02:23, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- I got the game on Friday (some stores sell it as soon as they get it) but the official release date from Ignition is still the 28th. There are 22 characters, the 20 from the arcade, and Mature and Elizabeth. There are no hidden characters. Brown Derby (talk) 16:12, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- I see. It seems SNK could not add new ones. By the way, is it explained if there is downloadable content?Tintor2 (talk) 00:32, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- So far all the DLC is Themes and Gamer Pics —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.24.119.11 (talk) 00:32, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
PSP version?
editJust wanna know: do any of you think that SNK Playmore will develop a PSP port of KOF XII? I don't want to own a Xbox 360 due to the permenant ban for modchipped Xbox 360s on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation 3 due to the removal of PlayStation 2 hardware in its lastest revisions. English Voice Cast
editWho are the English voice actors for each character (except Terry and Raiden, who retained their Japanese voice actors in the English version)? None of them were designated for each character in the ending credits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.205.83.35 (talk) 22:17, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- If even SNK did not confirm such info then there is no need to add them. Anyway, that info should be more suitable in their respective characters articles/lists.Tintor2 (talk) 22:25, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

DLC
editThough technically old news, they added alternate soundtrack dlc. They change the soundtrack to give the songs a different musical style including both a "Hard Rock" and "Dance" version (seperate downloads). Sabishii_Kage (talk) 13:02, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
