The Flash Season 4 colour

Can you point out to me where on The Flash Season 4 poster dark red is more prominent? If you use TinEye, you'll see that the dark colours elsewhere on the poster "bleed" into the red and present a dark red that is not actually present. Technology isn't always right, sometimes the human eye is. There is also nothing that actually states that the season colours need to be drastically different to each other. -- Alex^TW 02:13, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

The dark red is actually quite present throughout the suit, in addition to being in the background around the suit. [1] While it's not stated that season colours should be different, it does help the readers when they can be. Which in this case, can be done. Why wouldn't we choose the one that clearly differentiates the two seasons? Not that it matters that much since neither of these will be the season's final colour anyway. -- Brojam (talk) 02:45, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for that link. It supports that I stated about it simply being the darker shades of the suit blending in with the red and other darker areas, to create a dark red that isn't really there nor prominent (A difference of 2.3% is barely anything - if it was 23%, then you'd have a point). The two colours of the Season 3 and the Season 4 colour I attempted to use, I already find them to be rather different enough. And it does matter much, given that we'll be using this colour for at least the next half-year. I can start a discussion of it on the article's talk page and gain some other editor's views, which might be the best option. -- Alex^TW

I agree that 360E17 looks nearly black... but I do think it is extremely important to be able to easily and quickly differentiate between season colours (the colours for seasons 1 and 2 are waaaaaaaay too close to one another, for example) so I'm glad to hear Alex arguing that colour prominence needn't be the only factor considered. That being said, I find the difference between season 3 and the lighter red here (7C1C1A) different enough in this case. The darker red and the season 1 and 2 colours also look far too close to one another, so if the darker red were chosen, we'd have 3 seasons with very similar colours and 3 would stand out more than it should. Looking at the colour map, though, I'd probably go with 43307D just to be clearly distinct. —Joeyconnick (talk) 06:03, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Actually,  #43307D  was the first colour picked by Alex when the poster was released (see here). I had originally changed the colour since I was under the impression that the MOST prominent colour should always be picked, but since that doesn't seem to be the case I don't mind using that one since it is to most distinct. - Brojam (talk) 22:48, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Taking names from the series episodes

"We don't usually?" That sounds worded in a way as to support your POV without you having to provide backup for that opinion of yours. Can you point us to a guideline or policy that specifies this? Because I am pretty sure I could likewise say "we usually go with whatever Cisco calls them in an episode and don't bother waiting for a secondary source since character names or monikers are elements that can clearly be sourced using primary sources, much like we do with plot details" and that would be as valid as your interpretation that we for some unexplained reason need a different standard before including character names/superheroic aliases/etc.

Also, since "The Fiddler" was listed (and was fine by everyone) until you came along, could you revert your removal of it until we've finished this discussion, as per WP:BRD? Thanks. —Joeyconnick (talk) 04:26, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Sorry, when I used "we", it was the royal 'We', as in 'We at Wikipedia'. We use sources here. Plot outlines are often excepted from that requirement, with the understanding that group consensus is going to arrive at the version that most fits "reality". If someone challenges it, it is out unless it can be cited.

I recall an exemplar situation with someone being called the Joker at the Gotham article. It took forever; people going back and forth with the 'was he or was he not' arguments ad nauseum. The way it was settled was to use reliably-sourced references only. I find it works best, and it fits perfectly within our policies regarding the use of references.

Just because a character in an episode one-offs a name doesn't make it that character's name. the comic book character is male and has an entirely different backstory. So, without references, it cannot be in the article. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 04:53, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
