Racers Revealed
editHey, I've not seen in the "Racers Revealed" episode of The Amazing Race 3 and I've seen in Geoff's profile that he's a New Zealander. Is that true? And if so, please change his nationality in the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ja 1207 (talk • contribs) 15:21, September 4, 2008 (UTC)

Releasing results before airdate
editShould we really release results before the episode has aired, even if there is a substantial source? I just think it's not really "right" to post it and spoil the show for people who chance by the page. It's just like if a source says that Team X won and it's a reliable source but not everyone knows, should it be placed on the page? DanielTAR (talk) 08:32, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Everything that well-sourcing, it is not a question whether it should be right to put on, if that is not right, why the publisher release well before the air date? More details WP:SW --Aleenf1 11:50, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. I see. I didn't know Wiki had that policy. Well, alright then. I guess I'll have to stay away from the article to avoid being spoiled. =/ DanielTAR (talk) 01:53, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
They seem to love airing adverts before the end of the season with the winners in said adverts, then when people complain, film adverts with *The losing teams* that happen to still be in the race at said time. They did this for what 2 seasons now? The whole Sam/Vince ad that aired, and the Colin/Adrian one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.1.234 (talk) 15:21, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Wat Pai or Wat Phai
editShould it be Wat Pai Rong Wua or Wat Phai Rong Wua? The AXN recap says Phai but I think the accurate spelling is Pai, according to Google, which spells-check and suggests Wat Pai when you search Wat Phai Rong Wua. Any locals/those familiar with Thai-language/culture/attractions care to clarify? DanielTAR (talk) 05:00, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- Wat Phai Rong Wua [1], is that accurate? --Aleenf1 05:17, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- "Wat Phai Rong Wua" is standard romanization. The Wat maybe uses another spelling. But as we can not know which one they use. The standard one is the best (in my opinion). --Cakra (talk) 17:00, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Mae Khong Pong??
editIs it what they call in the show? The village is actually called "Mae Kham Pong" (แม่คำปอง) in Thai. --Cakra (talk) 17:09, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Roadblock Performed!!
editYou Count The Roadblocks Not Performed Of Kapil and Natalie? Is Just A qUESTION... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.83.82.177 (talk) 22:28, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Task
editA task can only be listed if the team have to do it, such as FF, RB, DT, so that is also for additional tasks, thats why the tasks is listed there. Receiving bless from the priest is not involving team member to do it in physical nor mentally. So, it can't be count as a task.
About the penalty, it will not emerge at all. Priest hold the clue, the teams were told to receive the bless and get the clue, is normal routine only.
Please see the past, WHY task is listed there, all should involving physical and mentally. --Aleenf1 13:12, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- You don't understand what the "penality" I have mentioned. Actually, they can choose not to receive the blessing, and follow the backs of other teams all the way to the Pit Stop, can they still be assigned a position as usual without ANY penalities? 5 minutes penalities, 24 hours penalities? I dunno, but it's still not impossible to be happened. Anyway, come back to the main question and let me say my point again, only if they follow and complete what they are assigned to, can they move on the race usually. Tasks are what ASSIGNED to them, and they have to FULFILL (to do, complete, finish, perform) what they are required.
- Another point is that, you say a task must be done with physical and mental energy, but compare:
- drinking a cup of tea; signing up a helicopter; and receiving a tatoo VS getting a blessing (first 3 are listed as tasks in other TAR articles too). All of them are people doing something in an effort to get a clue. To entertain you, at least, they had to move themselves physically from the clue box to the priest, received the bless, and got the clue.
- Hence, getting a blessing is task. 210.184.252.1 (talk) 14:13, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, i did not observe the first 3 TARs, the AT is only come after TARA 1, where i started that. In early TAR13, signup the time is listed as AT, however i remove it, no one object it. So you mean, ride a boat to one destination, even fly to, even cycling to, all that they have to complete. So, all that is a task? So, you should list all that too, if you want. Hence, it is always you think too!
Whatever, i waiting someone to comment and clarify in the future. So it should be clear in next few days. However, you can't mark me vandalism, i did nothing wrong. Please see what is vandalism. --Aleenf1 14:34, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, I DID NOT say anything like "ride a boat to one destination, even fly to, even cycling to", etc. This is your interpretation again. The last edition of the page that includes these things are added merely based on your own opinions, don't said it as if those are my opinion, as appeared at the edit summary you have written.
- Sorry, signing up transportations are also on TAR3 and TAR6, but again, you have deleted them! You deleted them just now!! How unfair you are! You are deleting things supporting my view points, in order to support your own view points.
- Of coz I have the right to think and express what I think; of coz you have the rights, too, but it doesn't mean you have the rights to remove others' works soley because thosre are what you think but failing to give a proper reason, sorry, this is not your personal website. You have to understand adding things (that are not harmful but can be doubtful) is easier to be kept here rather than removing things here. You can only remove them until there is a consensus about that is "not a task".
- In my view, it is rather time-wasting/resources-wasting to define again what a task is, or saying like "it must be either physical and mental". Endless discussions can be expected. Like someone is to argue the definition of physical and mental, and finding that drinking a cup of Chinese tea is not physical enough, and he "don't think it is enough to be classified as a task". While, some other think it is enough to be a task.
- However, as "What should be classified as a task, specifically, an additional task?" was raised, in my own opinion, they are the things the teams required to complete in order to get the next clue or go on the race as usual without penalities. In addition, I perfer it will be the additional things they are required to do over the merely transportations, as those can be written in other paragraphs like at the episode summary section if there is such a section later. Of coz, if the consensus is to add all the walkings, movings and tranportings, it's totally okay for me! 210.184.252.1 (talk) 18:34, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I can't hear you opinion only, is not the time you to decide something that time wasting or not, at the early, you said follow, perform, or not, penalty. I have my opinion too! Every clue they receive is a TASK, i remember they ask to take train, but take bus, they receive the penalty, so if all you mean is to follow, perform, then all the clue is task. --Aleenf1 11:13, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, "so if all you mean is to follow, perform, then all the clue is task" It is again, your personal interpretation. I have elaborated clearly on what my opinion about "task". If you still don't understand, it will be a regret.
- Also, I didn't say you could not have your opinion and I have zero rights to forbid your opinion, oppositely, every constructive opinion including yours must be welcome here. However, the point is that you have removed the contribution of others that were unrelated to any rules and consensus violation. Please understand the adding and deleting pratice in Wikipedia. I hope you could finally understand this time.
- Anyway, i am pulling out from working on any TAR article, so i no need to feed you anything. Do your best. --Aleenf1 10:40, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Furthermore, i can say is your personal interpretation also because in early you said if one team failed to follow, it is penalty, and should be additional task. I remember, teams hit penalty because they use bus instead train, so that should be additional task too! Under your point! So, i am "very" understand what you mean now. --Aleenf1 11:01, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
The term of task
editPlease give the full comment for the term of "task" in The Amazing Race to standardize for the future. Thank you.
What the task should be listed? Is that get a blessing, sign up the time is a task? Or the task only can be listed if they have to perform on the way of physical and mentality? --Aleenf1 14:11, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I think it should be noted. Sam Blab 18:16, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Obviously if it's something as simple as Go to X, you don't have to list it as a task because it is a RACE NORM that you'll have to go places. But if it's something significant like receiving a blessing, which is in itself, a very cultural thing, then it should be notable, especially if it impacts the leg's result, as seen by teams having to wait for the Hours of Operation before they can get the blessing and hence get their next clue. Fighting over this is just childish. Some people here simply want to do things only their own way. And I agree with the IP guy that it is very rude to delete things just because of what YOU think is wrong, especially if it's based on YOUR opinion and not on any of the Wikipedia policies. The person put in some time and effort to get the information and you just, in one click of a button, undo it? Have you ever stopped to consider how this person might be feeling? I think the person knows who this is going out to. DanielTAR (talk) 01:35, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, do whatever you want, everyone think he is not wrong and so am i, so add everything you like it and i just watch everything you like it, include vandalism, rubbish, etc, so is win for everyone.
DanielTAR, you add already 3 teams failed to complete roadblock after Leg 5 (direct or indirect), have you think Mai & Oliver is unable to complete it? So, in this point, i guess you think you right.
Team doing what in the clue, so everything must be follow, so i will think everything is a task! Guys, good luck! --Aleenf1 11:37, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you really think something like "everyone think(s) he is not wrong" and giving up everything after meeting an opposite view, then Wikipedia is not really the best place for you as you are refusing to accept the fact that consensus is a foundation that builds up Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a community that are being shared by more than one person.
- It will never be you lose, and everyone wins after you have decided to give up putting efforts. Everyone will lose coz I am thinking that your continuous efforts at the part of reverting vandalism and constructive editings must be thanked by a lot of users here. They can observe it without doubts. But the rule is there, we are less easily to remove things here than adding things. If the consensus turns out to be on your side, in my view, the other side shouldn't be considered a "lose" because at least the people involved have put their effort to figure out a consensus and they have tried to be their role in the community. —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)
- Aleenf, what on earth did you just say? I have totally no idea on how the 3 teams not completing tasks has ANYTHING to do with it. Right now, we're discussing what warrants to be put under Additional Tasks right? The only thing I'm saying now is that things that teams have to do/receive that are more than just the race norms of go to X, which is already represented by listing the venues the places teams have to go under every leg, SHOULD be shown in the Additional Tasks. Now please don't be childish and play up the sympathy card saying everyone is against you and not appreciating your efforts. You just need to learn that you are not the only one who wants to contribute to this page. DanielTAR (talk) 23:05, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
I think "Task" should be the things team are required to do to get the next clue. Going to X isn't a task, because it's the way to go to the other places to get the next clue and this has been included in the place chronological order before, so it's not necessary to list it as the additional tasks again. The task like "Detour", "Roadblock" or "Fast Forward" should be listed in the task summary, but the task that you've to do before you can get the next clue which is not a way to transport like "Play a water slide" at Wild Wadi Water Park (The Amazing Race Asia 1 - Leg 11) should be listed as the additional tasks and the way to transport to the other place should be listed at the place chronological order and not the summary or additional tasks. --Harley Hartwell (talk) 05:06, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, i am pulling out, do your best DanielTAR, you deserve to be the best and i am not play sympathy, i am stay on my principles and no need to waste my time and feed you. I can still contribute more in sporting events... My work end here. Bye Bye! My question is if you mean it is affect the team placement, i am object you because in every destination, some teams gain and some teams fell. So, you mean every process is notable and i should propose you to write episode summary rather than just task or additional task like in Survivor. --Aleenf1 10:55, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Fine. Let's now formally describe an ADDITIONAL TASK as one that is not a Roadblock, Detour, Speed Bump or Fast Forward BUT is something EXTRA that teams have to go through or do OTHER than the normal "Make your way to Place X", which is counted as a Route Info, and listed in chronological order in every leg summary by listing the location. The whole purpose of putting the Additional Tasks there is so as to show that in this leg, OTHER THAN travelling from X to Y, other than Detour,RB,FF, Speedbump, there was something added to the leg that teams had to fulfill before they could check in.

Map: India and China
editJust asking, why are the Andaman Islands and Nicobar Islands colored, as they are part of India as well?LordBelly06 (talk) 10:08, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. They're the part of India since its independence from United Kingdom. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.96.113.119 (talk) 02:31, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Another question about the map, why is it that in the larger map, the transfer from Hong Kong to Macau and back to Hong Kong was clearly seen while in this new map, the transfers aren't clear? Is it possible to use the larger map and just crop that map, since, after all, that map seems more accurate than the current map?LordBelly06 (talk) 11:56, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Amazing Race Wikia link
editIs it alright to provide links to The Amazing Race wiki at the Wikia site for more detailed coverage of each leg of the race? I notice that the List of Stargate SG-1 episodes provide Wikia links for the detailed summaries of each episode that, normally, some Wikipedia monitors would have a debate for episode notability. --Destron Commander (talk) 14:26, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
