(also on User talk:Warofdreams) Just custom. In Hong Kong, everybody says "The 1990s" instead of simply "1990s". Therefore to conform the wikipedian custom (use British spelling and usage in Britain related articles, Aussie spelling and usage in Australian articles, similarly use Hong Kong-style wordings in Hong Kong related articles) the word the is put into the article series: The 1960s in Hong Kong, The 1970s in Hong Kong, The 1990s in Hong Kong. Thanks for your explanation and my apologies for moving the articles without discussion. I am, however, not convinced by your argument. For instance, in the UK we always refer to the country as the United Kingdom, and yet the article on the nation is of course at "United Kingdom". Similarly, we have the River Thames and, indeed, the 1990s. As a result, I'm planning to list the pages on WP:RM. -Warofdreams

Natural disasters

Does anyone remember typhoon Hope? I think it was in 1979. I was at home and could see cars being blown all over the place by the winds, before we decided to hide in an insider corridor in our apartment in the New Territories. --tess 22:12, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Info and Pictures

Couple facts need reconsidering or re-research before going back in the article.

1.) burger king in HK did not come before mcdonalds. I looked all over and the 1st burger king in asia was singerpore 1982. If this is not correct, please find a resource to show it.

2.) Largest reservior seems to be plover cove in every construction source. Not Highland Island Reservior.

3.) ultraman is not anime, if anything it is closer to sentai material

4.) The golden age of Hong Kong football was not the 70s. Unless you count the 1914 HKFA, in that case it would be colonial times.

5.) There is no article on "The Private Eye". That picture is also absolutely horrible! I got rid of it. Feel free to upload some other picture.

6.) 60s watergun pic has moved to the 60s page.

Our family migrated to Australia in 1974 and I have already seen Ultraman on TV several times. I think the first broadcast of Ultraman in Hong Kong was well before 1975.

About the metric quote

That quote "1 feet equals 3 feet" (一呎等如三尺) was there before me. I took it out. If someone wants to find a real reference for it and put it back, feel free. Benjwong 01:55, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
