Requesting help with disambiguation page
editI tried to set-up a disambiguation page for TREC because I added another TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) to Wikipedia. However, I seem to have done this incorrectly. Any help in fixing this would be appreciated. Shaneatx 04:14, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Notable?
editOkay, Fæ, can you help us understand why this article is insufficiently notable? You seem to feel pretty strongly that it needs this tag, but didn't mention a reason anywhere. Isoboroff (talk) 16:37, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- Sure, being a conference I think only the general notability guideline applies (if it were about the institutions sponsoring it, then WP:ORG would be relevant). Consequently there must be independent sources to demonstrate the long term impact of this conference. Having notable people attending or speaking does not of itself make the conference notable (as it is they, not the conference that are notable). Impact might be demonstrated by such things as the new research or standards resulting from publications from the conference or newspaper/public interest in the event. At the moment the sources used to support the article appear non-independent (one is a wiki which automatically fails WP:RS) and insufficient to address the notability concern.
- Note that the notability tag is an improvement template to help ensure contributors focus on finding better sources, it does not necessarily lead to deletion and is not an accusation that the conference is not notable in real life, only that the article does not yet address the sourcing issue. Thanks Fæ (talk) 16:49, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Ok. There is a wealth of information on the standards that TREC creates and their impact. I will devote some time to addressing this in the page. Thanks. Isoboroff (talk) 16:34, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Fæ, what do you think of the Conference Contributions section in this page now? Does it contain enough external references? Any suggestions? jrf (talk) 16:09, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- Resolved. Clearly notable, lots of updates since then. So I deleted the template.★NealMcB★ (talk) 03:58, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
