Trilogy?

A trilogy is a collection of three works that can either be seen as three individual works or one singular work. Does this count as a trilogy? If not does Super Mario All-Stars count as a tetralogy? (Oinkers42) (talk) 17:33, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

You kept out the key word here from our definition which is "connected". These three games are not "connected" beyond just being part of the same franchise. Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are connected, but none of these games featured in this collection continue any thing between them, so I don't feel Category:Trilogies is appropriate. I am less familiar with the older Super Mario games, but my thinking would be the same - if the original game, 2, The Lost Levels and 3 have some sort of connected nature between all four games (beyond just being an entry in the franchise), then Category:Tetralogies is appropriate there. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:49, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

The original game, The Lost Levels, and 3 are all connected; TLL and 3 are both sequels to the original game. But 2 is not connected at all; it's just a remake of a game unrelated to Mario with Mario characters substituting the original heroes. Nope, that's not only blatantly wrong by every plain fact there ever was, but also WP:OR in contradiction to Wikipedia. Super Mario Bros. has two sequels, which are two games named Super Mario Bros. 2 and then TLL is simply one of the rereleases of one of them. Wikipedia's article on TLL is worded strictly according to backwardly brain-damaged wikilawyered pedantry so don't let it confuse you, because it is very controversially a little bit confusing. Wikipedia's article on TLL is worded strictly according to backwardly brain-damaged wikilawyered pedantry so don't let it confuse you. Uh, WP:NPA, The Lost Levels is a featured article, and the title is overwhelmingly the WP:COMMONNAME. I'm tempted to close this discussion FWIW, since there's nothing constructive coming out of it. While download codes from retailers are still redeemable -at any time according to the official site- and the game can still be purchased physically while supplies last, production of physical units and availability for purchase on the eShop have ceased as of March, 31^st, 2021.
