Automatic or Autonomic

edit

As this is a medical/scientific article I believe the first paragraph should more accurately read:

The stretch reflex (myotatic reflex) is a muscle contraction in response to stretching
within the muscle. It is a monosynaptic reflex which provides AUTONOMIC
regulation of skeletal muscle length.

rather than stating that it is "automatic". I believe it to be a function of the autonomic nervous system but have no specialised knowledge to be certain of this and so have left it as it stands.

No, automatic is correct. The autonomic nervous system mostly targets smooth muscles and glands, whereas this reflex is about skeletal muscles. Adrian J. Hunter(talkcontribs) 11:46, 15 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
