The result of the move request was: moved. long-term significance is still a criterion, but no indication presented that only one of these has long-term significance. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:37, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

– No primary topic. buidhe 03:27, 22 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

When I search Google Books for Stormtrooper, the first twenty results are:

(I excluded some fiction books and a Wikia book)

For pageviews we have:

  • Star Wars: 24,967 pageviews
  • Imperial Germany: 22,157 pageviews
  • Nazi SA, admittedly also goes by other names in English sources: 62,133 pageviews. buidhe 03:35, 22 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 13:49, 22 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom. Even through a historical lens, there's no primary topic for this name. When in doubt, have the disambiguation page at the basename. Paintspot Infez (talk) 00:31, 23 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. The original Nazi Germany military troops and the fictional Star Wars Imperial troops are equally worthy of primary topic status. Other meanings, such as the Transformers characters or the Warhammer 40,000 characters are far less notable. But two equal primary topics is enough for Stormtrooper to be a disambiguation page. JIP | Talk 20:57, 23 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Move to Stormtroopers (World War I). More intuitive than "(Imperial Germany)" and easily primary over others in WWI. But agree that it's not the primary topic over the SA or even necessarily over Star Wars. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:46, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I thought about this, but I don't think it's an ideal solution as we usually avoid WP:PARTIALDAB. buidhe 19:06, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - what happened? Is long-term educational significance no longer a criterion on WP:PRIMARYTOPIC? … no, it still is... Red Slash 21:39, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Why was the title of the article (Stormtrooper) moved from singular to plural (Stormtroopers (Imperial Germany)? Isn't this contrary to our naming conventions? Plurals should only be used when the singular form is so rarely used that it's confusing, right? How is that the case here? --A D Monroe III(talk) 22:42, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

A D Monroe III, to match the first sentence, which would sound unnatural with the singular imo. buidhe 22:58, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
That's not a reason to go against article naming guidelines; we don't name articles according to it having an awkward intro. The discussion doesn't mention changing this to plural; it appears as an overlooked mistake. --A D Monroe III(talk) 23:05, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
A D Monroe III, Please feel free to open a RM on Stormtroopers (Imperial Germany) if you like. buidhe 23:11, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Why, thanks for that. --A D Monroe III(talk) 21:39, 2 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
