Talk:Stolen Kosovo

Latest comment: 8 years ago by Bobrayner in topic POV

^ Kosovo is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. The Assembly of Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence on 17 February 2008, while Serbia claims it as part of its own sovereign territory. International recognition of independence is limited to 69 of the 192 UN member states and the Republic of China (Taiwan).

While the note is quite valid two points of change:

1) If country is self proclaimed, then it is not Serbia (the host country) that claims soverenity, but the selfproclaimed country that claims independence.

2) Since internationaly recognoized and UN validated borders of Serbia include Kosovo, it should be noted that it is not UN recgnoized country / UN member above all, as this is final international recognition. If you would go by idea that some countries

3) Above all, Kosovo does not have almost any attributes of country - run by foreign civic mission, using foreign currency (Euro but not being in EU), having NATO and UN troops etc.

Only valid UN 1244 resolution holds its a peacekeeping mission there and it was given to Serbia after the Balkan Wars, as gained teritorry from Ottoman Empire. However, this gain is not yet nulled by any international conference or UN.

However, in time it might become more recognoized, maybe one day by Serbia (which will then be a real independece) and gain more institutionalization.

Its more like puppet state now.

These points do not pertain to the article, and are best taken up on the talk page of the template or on Kosovo, but be aware, this is a very sensitive issue with more than enough bickering from all angles. Evlekis (Евлекис) 18:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Seems like POV to me. Both sides of the argument need to be shown. Hardly any mention of bias against the Albanians. The summary of the plot is ridiculous. Needs expansion or deletion. Ujkrieger (talk) 11:27, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
