Sources, autobiography

edit

I think this article needs to be properly sourced and it also seems to be written with uncommon knowledge of Stephen M Kohn's autobiographical details. Tagging to reflect this. Saganaki- 13:17, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uncommon knowledge? Check out the firm's Web site! I'm interested in whistleblowers and whistleblower cases, like Dr. Fred Whitehurst. -- Audie —Preceding unsigned comment added by Audie Holmes (talkcontribs) 18:41, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is not an autobiography

Some proposed changes: adding relevant, updated information

Add Info Box to page (it's appearing on the right side):

Stephen M. Kohn
NationalityAmerican
Alma materNortheastern University, J.D., Brown University, M.A., Boston University, B.A.
Occupation(s)Attorney, Whistleblower Advocate
Years active1988-present

Websitehttps://www.kkc.com/

In the biography section, please add a new heading called Major Whistleblowing Cases. Under this new heading, please add text from the previous biography section so that the entire section reads as follows:

In addition to defending whistleblowers, Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto has filed numerous qui tam suits linked to the disclosure of government fraud. Kohn personally has represented whistleblowers in the O. J. Simpson murder case, the World Trade Center bombing cases, and the Oklahoma City bombing case. Kohn represented Linda Tripp in the Linda Tripp-Privacy Act case. He also represented Bradley Birkenfeld in the Bradley Birkenfeld-UBS AG tax evasion case; in 2012, Birkenfeld received the largest whistleblower award in history for his disclosures of illegal offshore accounts at UBS. Another notable client of the firm was Dr. Frederic Whitehurst, a supervisor at the FBI Crime Lab, who blew the whistle on the Bureau and its tainting of forensic evidence for use by prosecutors. Kohn introduced Whitehurst's 1995 testimony before the House Subcommittee on Crime. In 2006, Kohn was the Daynard Public Interest Visiting Fellow at his law alma mater, Northeastern Law. He is the Executive Director of the National Whistleblower Center and Attorney-Trustee for the National Whistleblower Legal Defense and Education Fund.

Explanation of issue: This updated text contains more updated, specific information, as well as an Info Box, which is a concise way of conveying the information. I also want to propose a new section, which more accurately divides up the information and text. Please let me know if I need to tweak anything or any of the wording!

I would also like to disclose that I am serving as a paid editor: I am employed by Kohn, Kohn, and Colapinto, LLP. I am receiving compensation in the form of payment for hourly work on article edits. I've used the Connected Contributor template for this reason. This information is also disclosed on my user page and my user talk page.

References supporting change: Not only has Kohn continued to advocate and work for whistleblowers, he has also been contacted to speak out in the wake of the recent whistleblower news in the American government. Linked below are a couple of articles that include his opinion on the matters.

   Unable to review

  • Your edit request could not be reviewed because the claims made do not contain ref tags. When proposing edit requests, it is important to highlight in the text, through the use of ref tags, which specific sources are doing the referencing for each claim. The point of these ref tags is to allow the reviewer and readers to check that the material is sourced; that point will be lost if the references are not clearly placed. In the collapsed section below titled Request edit examples, I have illustrated two: The first shows how the edit request was submitted; the second shows how requests should be submitted in the future.

  3. ^ Uemura, Shū. The Sun's Heat. Academic Press, 2020, p. 2.

In the example above there are three references provided for the stated claims. But the text does not indicate, through the use of ref tags, which reference applies to which claim. Your edit request similarly does not provide ref tags indicating which source goes where. The links between material and their source references must be clearly made, as shown in the next example below:

REF TAGS USED

The Sun's diameter is 864,337 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.[3]

  3. ^ Uemura, Shū. The Sun's Heat. Academic Press, 2020, p. 2.

In the example above the links between the provided references and their claim statements are perfectly clear.

  • Kindly reformulate your edit request so that it aligns more with the second example above, and feel free to re-submit that edit request below this post in a new edit request at your earliest convenience.

The infobox was added, but I would say that the other information promotes the subject's work as a whistleblower, a topic which is already sufficiently covered in the article. Some of the sources that you want to use are for multiple claims when only one is verified in the article (i.e., the Linda Tripp reference placed at the back of multiple claims involving OJ Simpson, WTC, etc.) Other references have not been placed using ref tags, so that it's not clear which reference goes where. Please note that new requests should be placed at the bottom of the talk page. Regards,  Spintendo  00:25, 27 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
