Isn't Stella in fact the older sister of Blanche? Hence the line, "I call her my younger sister despite the fact she is slightly older than me." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.114.1.5 (talk) 04:06, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Stella is indeed the older sister of Blanche Dubois. The precise line is "I call her little in spite of the fact she's somewhat older than I am." http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/s/streetcar-named-desire-script-transcript.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.114.1.5 (talk) 03:18, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

She isn't the older sister. The play is about Blanche being extremely pre-occupied with her fading beauty, and wants to cling onto it. She lies to Mitch about her age because she wants to create the illusion (a major theme in the play) that she is still young and beautiful. She tells this lie as well as hiding from bright light; she only ever likes to be seen in dimmer lighting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.9.193.128 (talk) 12:21, 27 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Is This Page Needed?

edit

Does Wikipedia need a page on a character in play? Aren't real actors' biographies enough? Also, shouldn't this page just be about the play itself rather than a fictional character in the play? I'm not sure of the notability of this page. Please discuss. Jpatros 21:55, 26 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
