Allies? edit

Is this the right word? Do grasshoppers make alliances? Arthur goes shopping (talk) 14:11, 20 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

The term "allies" is widely used to mean related groups. There is a book called "How to Know the Grasshoppers, Crickets, Cockroaches and Their Allies", and another called "Atlas of grasshoppers, crickets and allied insects in Britain" for example. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:20, 20 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Scapteriscus and Neoscapteriscus edit

You wrote in the edit summary "Here is the problem: the Florida species of the mole cricket genus formerly called Scapteriscus are now called Neoscapteriscus due to revision by a mole cricket taxonomist Oscar Cadena in 2016. This is real and cannot be disputed. I have to presume that the original authors of this article wrote it before Cadena's revision. Therefore the original text must be REPLACED not simply merged, where it differs."

However, the edit you made was to the name of the image file, thus spoiling the way the image was displayed, so I have had to reverse it. It often takes time before new names for genera and species are accepted and incorporated into the literature, so Wikipedia is always likely to be behind the curve. The article on Scapteriscus will need to be updated before this one uses the new genus name. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:26, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
