Barbeque edit
Ewen, please don't change the spelling of 'barbeque' - which, by the way, is the correct Australian spelling. As you quote on your page "The alternative spelling barbeque is much more widely used in Australia." - No, you mis-read what I wrote on my page. The MacQuarrie dictionary still reckons the 'q' spelling to be less common than the 'c' spelling: 'Barbeque' is less unusual in Australia, but still a minor spelling. On the other hand, 'Barbecue' is accepted and common in Australia and is the only correct spelling in UK English. So in the interests of commonality can we please use the spelling which is correct in all versions of English?

- The Oxford dictionary quotes that the spelling with q is less common than with c in Australia 'published' texts by a 3:2. However, most of these texts aren't published in Australia and as such are edited using UK or American English. Of those that are edited in Australia, barbeque is much more widely used, and is much more commonly used by Australian barbeque manufacturers. Take Barbeques Galore for example, Australia's biggest distributor of barbeques, which uses the q spelling. A majority of barbeques produced in Sydney label themselves as barbeques. And for the record, Wikipedia by no means serves the interest of commonality, but rather relates to specific areas. I directly quote from Wikipedia's tutorial regarding English dialects: "If the subject is related to Australia, then Australian English is preferred." - Perhaps you're right about the 'q' spelling but it's clear that it isn't 'the' spelling of the word - it's 'a' spelling of the word. 'Barbecue' is another spelling of the word in Australian English. The things is, 'barbecue' is the spelling in UK English. Anything else is considered wrong. So why not choose a form of Aus English which is also correct in UK English?
