Name
editAs for all i know, the name is Zhongyuan Buddha (or Lushan Buddha). The thing about the hot springs is maybe only name for tourists, or made up by someone. The chinese wikipedia or chinese internet sites says nothing about the springs nearby. I guess it's just plain wrong, as the building date also was completely off. Those wrong facts where integrated in other language wikipedia sites. --Truthlobby (talk) 13:27, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Why does Buddha look East Asian?
editI mean this statue was built in a near bye generation. Why does he look East Asian then? I mean wasn't Buddha from India then? 71.105.87.54 (talk) 02:37, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to assume the same reason that every statue/idol/painting of Jesus I have seen shows him as a western European white guy.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.27.85.248 (talk • contribs)

Article is a little thin
editWhen was it built? By whom and why? Who is the artist? How was it built and of what materials? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.255.249.210 (talk) 11:39, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
observation platform
editDoes it have a observation platform? Strange if not, but there is no mention if there is or isn't. 82.141.93.49 (talk) 13:37, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Spring as ... what?
editSpring as
A debate about this is going on in finnish wiki (in finnish). --RicHard-59 (talk) 09:46, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
- It has been renamed as "Zhongyuanin suuri buddha" ("Zhongyuan's great buddha" in English). Is there actually a source for the "Spring Temple" name, as some (one even on this talk page) claim it is not right? 91.154.188.185 (talk) 22:05, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
Height
editThe total height figures look odd. As I read them, 153+15=208. Errantius (talk) 04:43, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Revert
edit@Swtadi143: I deleted those sentences because the lead already mentions that the Statue of Unity is taller, and the repetition in such a short article is unwarranted. Further, the two sentences are poorly integrated into the section even if they did belong. Looking at the page history, another editor independently came to the same conclusion, so the onus is on you to show why the sentences should stay. Rublov (talk) 15:17, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
@Rublov: It should stay because the 2nd sentence mentions the particular "date" of when it got passed by Statue of Unity, i.e 31st October 2018, So this two sentences are contextual and very important, also the first editor who reverted it only reverted at a time when there was only one sentence, I added the second sentence later to make it contextual (the first editor who reverted was totally right as reverting that one lone sentence was good as it has no meaning but now it having two sentences is interlinked and meaningful so the first editor didnt revert it again) and Now it belongs there so i am reverting your edit again. I am doing this as a good faith edit. Hope you understand. (Also, the article no where mentions when actually did statue of unity surpassed spring temple buddha, in whic date??? So this two sentences are important as it gives visitor the context of when if got surpassed as which particular date)
- How about this - we rephrase the sentence in the lead to mention when the Spring Temple Buddha was surpassed by the Statue of Unity. Perhaps:
At 128 metres (420 ft), excluding a 25 metres (82 ft) lotus throne, it is the second-tallest statue in the world after the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, India, which surpassed it in 2018 with a height of 182 metres (597 ft).

@Rublov: No I think the status quo should stay. If any other editor again changes this independently again than I will certainly wont revert their contributions but for now let the status quo stay here.
- The status quo in this case is the version of the article without your contribution, which, to reiterate, has been independently reverted by two editors now and which you have made no effort to defend against my concerns. I am going to revert your edit and I urge you to make a genuine attempt at resolving this dispute through discussion, as I have done, rather than continuing to blindly revert me. Rublov (talk) 06:00, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
@Rublov: I agree with you, and sorry for the revert war, Consensus reached Mutually acceptable sentence added, I ask you to review my recent edit in the main article page and If you agree say Yes than the conversation ends here but if its a No than the conversation will continue here waiting for your reply.
- I'm fine with your latest edits. My one comment is that I think simply stating "2018" would be better than "31st October 2018". For one thing, the exact date is probably too much detail. For another, I don't know that it's strictly accurate - according to the Statue of Unity article, October 31 is when the statue was inaugurated, but presumably it exceeded the height of the Spring Temple Buddha sometime earlier during construction. Regardless, it should either be "31 October 2018" or "October 31, 2018" per MOS:DATEFORMAT (i.e., "31" not "31st"). Rublov (talk) 15:20, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
@Rublov: ok done, I simply added 2018, exact date is not necessary, Thank you for discussion, Consensus reached.
Largest Buddha statue in the world?
editIf it's the largest Buddha statue in the world, shouldn't this information be added to the article? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 07:21, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
