WUSTL Behavioral Ecology

Previously, this stub only had the taxobox and two sections called "Ecology" and "Gallery." The “Ecology” section was very short (around two sentences) and did not have proper citations nor did it use a reliable reference source. The “Gallery” also contained images that were not part of the correct CC license. There was even a warning box about citations at the top of the page. Therefore, I deleted those two sections, and the only part I kept in my overhaul of the page was the taxobox. Everything else so far is my contribution to the page. Edits for behavioral ecology course

This article is very well-written and provides a comprehensive collection of the information on this moth. I made some minor peer edits for a behavioral ecology course. I changed the taxobox picture to something more clear. I also re-worded the lead section so that it is more clear and the flow is better. I added to the pesticides section and referenced it as well. Behavioral Ecology Project 2017

S.srivatsa here. I added some internal links to the pages: heterospecific and post-mating conflict. I also suggest that in the habitat section, it would be good to add more information about what kind of surroundings S. litura is commonly found in. Although the temperature is good information to have, it could be beneficial here to list a few host-plants and to describe the environment in the tropical regions that the moth inhabits. Review for Ecology Class

This article was easy to understand and very well written. I added a hyperlink for the species S. littoralis that is mentioned throughout the article because I wanted to know more about that species and how it was similar and different to the S. litura species that the article was actually about. It might be interesting to add information about why the two species are considered to be different species instead of just one species since they are so similar in appearance. For the life cycle section, I think it would be better to organize the pictures from egg to adult. I was not sure how to move the pictures around the article without completely removing them and I’m not sure where they came from, so that’s why I didn’t change them myself. I also added a hyperlink for “fecundity.”

I changed around the wording of the Mating sections referring to the MAGs. Upon reading through the article the first time I was confused when you used the MAG acronym and “see below” in parentheses because I started looking for a picture of a MAG. Then instead of reading further right away I used the citation to look up the article that was cited at the end of the sentence. I realized that MAG stood for “male accessory gland” and that the see below instructions meant the next section. To fix this confusion I wrote out male accessory gland and let the next section define and explain it. I also added a hyperlink for male accessory glands in case other people wanted to know more about them. I also changed the grammatical structure of the MAG section because, from reading it, it seemed that there were multiple glands involved in interactions so I made MAG plural throughout the section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mullenm05 (talk • contribs) 04:06, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

Edit suggestions

Your writing here is great, and you have a lot of good information, especially in the Mating section. I just have a couple of suggestions. One is to maybe add a picture of the other moth under Similar Species to demonstrate how alike they look. My other suggestion is for some section heading changes -- I would make a Food Resources section and put the Food Regulation subsection under that instead of under Description. You could also add a sentence or two about the larvae eating the host plants in this section. Lastly, I think the sections about pest activity and pesticides should be under Interactions with Humans.
