Census

edit

Scionni 18:55, 21 January 2007 (UTC)sThe Census of 2001 assessed the population of Sion Mills using boundaries that only include the very heart of the village with its terraced mill houses, and a small area around it. I live in the village of Sion Mills, but am outside the arbitrarily drawn census boundary, so my household is not included in the figure of 2059 quoted. I have done a lot of research on the census figures and methodology, and the boundaries have been drawn in order that Sion Mills can be classified as a "village" rather than the larger "intermediate settlement" or even larger "small town". Who decides this designation I know not, but it is obviously a political decision. Using more accurate boundaries, the population of Sion Mills in 2001 should have been 3506.Reply
