“Jaw dropping quote” was taken out of context. edit

I’d like it removed. It was about protecting the rights of a student that comes out to a teacher or school counselor. I felt that if the student didn’t want us to tell their parent, we should respect that request - offer to help him/her inform the parent, but not do it over student’s objections. I also don’t approve of notifications to parents of girls who have an abortion. We don’t know the facts behind the home situation and if the student fears the action the parent may take if we out him, we should respect that. Perhaps have a meeting with the student and parents to help them understand where their child is coming from and help them understand and support their child. I’ve been a strong advocate for children, especially when it comes to protecting children from abuse that is sometimes by the parent. When a child confides to a teacher that he/she has been abused by a family member, the law requires us to report it to the abuse hotline and NOT tell the parents. It’s the law. 174.58.38.192 (talk) 07:12, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
