J-8F/J-8H edit

According to sinodefence.com, while the J-8II series is considered a '2.5th generation fighter' (the equivalent of our 3rd Generation fighter), with its 'true' multi-role capabilities, I've read that the Chinese government states that the J-8F and J-8C and J-8D upgraded to J-8H standards (new frame, engine, fire control system, radar, 'glass cockpt', BVR, enhanced strike capabilities) consider them '3rd generation', which is the equivalent to our '4th generation' designation. Should this be mentioned in the 'list of aircraft' section? the J-11 has two entries for the J-11A and J-11B, why not the J-8? Semi-Lobster (talk) 19:26, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Range? edit

Where does the "4000km" range come from? It's rather unlikely for something with two turbojet engines, and [1] gives "With two 480 litres drop tanks...a maximum ferry range of 2,000km", which makes a lot more sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ledrug (talkcontribs) 10:30, 25 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Specification contradiction edit

In the specification section, the "maximum speed" is greater than the "never exceed speed." Assuming Vne is the speed above which damage to the airframe will occur, how is this possible?MopSeeker FoxThree! 22:31, 2 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

The speeds in the specs section date to before a reference was added - comparing with the 2003–4 Jane's All The World's Aircraft, which gives a maximum mach number (MMO) of 2.2 and a design max level speed of 1300 km/h IAS, which corresponds to Mach 2.2 at ~40000 ft.Possibly the original editor may have got max mach number mixed up with Vne, but I don't know where the Mach 2.4 is from.Nigel Ish (talk) 23:14, 2 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
