The article says his score on the final run at the Olympics in 2010 was 49.5, but it was 48.4. Medal history

I see that most of White's medal history has been removed with the comment "Removed insignificant medals that was crowding up the page". Wow. I agree. For all the vandalism that has occurred throughout the Olympics, Philipmj24, an apparently overzealous user decides to come in and completely bastardize this article. This is just beyond me. The amount of medals White has won is what defines his celebrity. And now this page ONLY reflects his Olympic performances. No doubt the changes were made because one is uninformed of the importance of the X-Games and how they define Shaun White. Good thing this article is protected. Gentlemen, I welcome the criticisms of my edits. In my attempt to improve this page before his Olympic win, I may of rushed some of my edits. The reason I removed the medals is because, on an international scene, the X-Games arn't that widely known. I live in America and a rarely hear any news on the X-Games. I stand by my edits, however, I can see how this would make some people upset. I believe the medal table should only be used for globally known competitions. That is a ludicrous assertion. Just because you yourself rarely hear of the X-Games doesn't mean that they aren't a major, significant, and even international and hugely popular event. A large number of X-Games participants and medalists are from outside the U.S. and many go on to compete in the Olympics. In fact the X-Games have been a major factor in advancing the sport Shaun White is famous for. If you had read the Wikipedia article on the X-Games, you'd learn that there are X-Games events and demos around the world. Regardless, even if the X-Games were more U.S. centric, that doesn't mean they aren't significant on Wikipedia. You'll notice X-Games medal records are included in the pages of other athletes on Wikipedia. In your effort to force your own viewpoint on this article, you rashly removed a large amount of significant work others have put into this article. I would also argue that most people who visit this article want to learn about White's entire career, not just the Olympics, and his medal record is one thing that I personally have been most interested in lately. You can imagine my surprise to come back and see the entire section deleted. That's why I was a bit flustered myself. It's appropriate to clean up the medal record, and I very much applaud your positive efforts on this article, but to delete almost the entire medal history? I concur. The X-games is widely known around the world and one of the most broadcast sporting events outside of the mainstream sports. There is no reason to question that. It is a sporting event that is broadcast in over 200 countries and anyone with even the slightest interest in extreme sports is familiar with it. Also the overall winner of the FIS-worldcup can not be classed as minor, I think that speaks for itself.

Philipmj24: I like the way you've solved it now with the ability to hide/show the medals. However I think that only the olympic and x-games medals should be shown in the column on the right (X-games being the unofficial world championships of extreme sports). It is also my personnal opinion that the overall wins of the FIS world cup should be mentioned here, but that can be discussed.

The rest of the medal history is not held in such high regard and may be considered minor. However, it is a vital part of the biography of this person and should not be neglected. I believe that an own section of his competitive records would be a better way to display the rest of his achievements - do you agree? 7R (talk) 02:47, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

I think a skateboard career history should be added. Right now, the only information on his skateboarding career is in the "snowboarding career" section, which seems a bit odd. As is already seen in the list of his medals, he's earned several medals in skateboarding. Although it is not as significant as his snowboarding career, he's definitely a very significant figure in skateboarding, earning a medal as recently as 2010. There is a bit of information in his official bio, here http://www.shaunwhite.com/bio/about/ as well as throughout the internet. XGames reports would definitely have information.

Update- Well at least move most of the beginning of the snowboarding career paragraph... "White's skateboard career took place during the same time he was rising through the snowboard ranks. White quickly drew the eyes of many in the skateboarder scene including professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. At this point Hawk befriended the nine-year-old White at a local skatepark and mentored him, helping him turn pro in skateboarding at the age of 17. Incorrect date on arrest

I believe that "Retrieved" is when the source was first cited on Wikipedia, not when he was arrested. (To make a second point, the article points more towards Sunday as the date he was arrested than Monday. "...Loews Vanderbilt Hotel at 2 a.m. Sunday...") No, it clearly states Monday:

A spokeswoman for Baptist Hospital said White was treated there and released on Monday before being arrested and booked by police.

Regarding dates - |date= is for the date of publication; |accessdate= is for the date that the source was checked prior to adding to Wikipedia; and dates formatted like 9/18/12 or 9/18/2012 are both forbidden by WP:DATESNO - they should be September 18, 2012 or similar. So, here we would put something like "arrested on Monday September 17, 2012"

Snowboarding Career cleanup

This section contradicts itself several times. One example is that White's mother put him on a snowboard to slow him down when he was apparently taking snowboard lessons from his father already. It also doesn't clearly state anything, a lot of the language is non-specific (he turned pro at skateboarding, but it didn't say at what age for example, and it seems to say that he turned pro at skateboarding at age 6 if you read it wrong).

The section "Snowboarding career" says that Shaun White's slopestyle winning streak ended in 2007 when he finished 3rd behind Andreas Wiig and Teddy Flandreau. I can't find any other records of Teddy Flandreau winning the silver medal (nor do I recognize the snowboarder's name), and this contradicts the wikipedia page and for the 2007 X games that claim Jussi Oksanen was the silver medalist. Proposal to merge & redirect The White Album (film) into Shaun White

Hey Shaun White editors,

I was working on the underlinked backlog when I came across The White Album (film). I couldn't find much in the way of sources to establish the film's notability, and it doesn't seem to me like it meets the bar for WP:NOTFILM. There's no critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB. Heck, there's only 7 user reviews on IMDB. This one seems like a borderline AFD but I figured it may be better to add a line about the film to Shaun_White#Media_appearances and redirect there.
