American Airlines

I can't tell if this article is humor or not, but Fox News claims the actor who played Snape is working as a ticket agent for American Airlines:

That is not what the article claims. Have you read it? Elizium23 (talk) 04:32, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Addition to Reception Section

I noticed that under the 'Reception' section that there is mention of Severus Snape voted as the #1 favourite character by MTV and Empire Magazine, However it does not make mention of Severus Snape voted the #1 favourite character in a poll by Bloomsbury the publisher of the Harry Potter series (i know i don't need to mention this, you would all clearly know!). The poll was launched in May 2011 by Bloomsbury with a total of 70,000 votes casted, with Severus Snape receiving 20% of the votes to come in at #1.

I have a number of verifiable sources that confirm this, and you can read them at The Guardian and The Telegraph, respectively.

I feel this is somewhat important to make mention of, as it was launched by Bloomsbury. Let me know your thoughts on this. OphiraGrey (talk) 01:27, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Someone with more skill than I should update the Appearances section to include Snape's appearance in Act 3 of the play during the alternate timeline in which Voldemort won the Battle of Hogwarts because Cedrik Diggory killed Nevil Longbottom. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thornbrier (talkcontribs) 00:47, 27 August 2016 (UTC) Thornbrier (talk) 00:49, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

Readers Said Snape is not Dead

Logics as per the Readers

• 1: Snape doesn't appear when Harry uses the resurrection stone: You'd think Snape was very important to Harry, he loved his mother, gave his life to save him, and shielded him all his life. Harry just found out how Snape had been protecting him the whole time and died to save him, so when he used the magic ring that brings the spirits of dead people, you'd think Snape would be there. He certainly knew Snape longer than Lupin, and you'd think Snape was far more important to him than Lupin, but Snape wasn't around. Perhaps he was not dead. • • 2: Snape's corpse isn't found or mentioned: After the big battle, they lay out all the bodies, all the people who died, even the death eaters and Voldemorts. Harry sees Lupin's and Fred's body, but Snape's body isn't there. You'd think Harry would have told everyone about Snape's sacrifice so they can find his body too. But nope, Snape's corpse isn't found.

My theory, based on these two points, is that the snake venom didn't actually kill Snape, probably just paralysed him or put him in a comatose state. Just think about it, do you really think a POTIONS MASTER wouldn't have access to anti-venom? You think he wouldn't have prepared for the possibility that Voldemort's snake might turn on him? He was playing a dangerous role as a spy, Voldemort could turn on him at any moment, I think Snape would have obviously taken some kind of prophylactic antidote beforehand. So Voldemort's snake didn't actually kill Snape, it just temporarily paralysed him and made him look like he was dead. That's why the elder wand didn't belong to Voldemort, cause he hadn't really killed Snape. Snape's body is not mentioned at all, and his ghost doesn't appear with Lupin's and Harry's parents, even though it should have, so Snape obviously survived. He probably feels he fulfilled his promise to Dumbledore and Lilly and is out travelling the world and living his own adventures. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Devil Incorrect (talkcontribs) 13:13, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Talk pages are not a forum for discussion of the subject of the article; they are for discussion of improvements to the article. What you have here is "original research", unsubstantiated by notable sources, and no specific improvement to the page. This is not the place for that. What you want is a fan forum, not Wikipedia. Quick Editing Fix

In the first paragraph/section of the article skillful is spelled incorrectly. "An exceptionally skilful wizard, his coldly sarcastic and controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish." I didn't know how to contact you until I created an account to edit, and realized that I could not edit either way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artemis796 (talkcontribs) 05:57, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

"Skilful" is correct British spelling, and this article follows British spelling throughout. There is no misspellling there. Magidin (talk) 07:07, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

"Louis Potter and the Philosopher's Scone" in Alistair McGowan's Big Impression show.

I have modified this section, as Alan Rickman did NOT appear as himself as Snape in a Harry Potter parody named "Louis Potter and the Philosopher's Scone" in Alistair McGowan's Big Impression show. It was Alistair McGowan playing the character named "Professor Alan Rickman".

Severus Snape's full name is "Severus Snape" as stated per JK Rowling on the Potter More website by the author herself, he does not have a middle name. His full name is NOT Severus Tobias Kalovan Snape, this is made up by someone. OswaldNygmobblepot (talk) 05:44, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Partly done: I have added Citation needed tags. – Jonesey95 (talk) 10:15, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
I think this should be removed rather than c/n, as it's highly doubtful - but will abide by another editors decision. I've left a message on Tvurta's talk page as it was he who added it along with some other dubious info. Chaheel Riens (talk) 12:51, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
The only source I can find that doesn't link back to Wikipedia's current version is here, which is a fan fiction site and thus not a reliable source. I would say remove if nothing else comes up soon. Magidin (talk) 17:49, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

Inspiration for Snape's given name

Rowling just posted this tweet that suggests how she came up with "Severus". Would it be noteworthy? https://twitter.com/jk_rowling/status/1264240159278731264 -- Tytrox (talk) 17:07, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Addition to Loyalties Section

When Snape was fighting McGonagall in Deathly Hallows Part Two, he purposely deflects her spells behind him, to hit and presumably kill the two death eaters. 198.254.26.2 (talk) 20:18, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

Without source, this is just opinion and can't be added. Chaheel Riens (talk) 17:07, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Change whose to who's in the 1st paragraph 104.158.92.124 (talk) 19:42, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Not done: Who's is who is or who has. Whose is the possessive.

Take these for a read: skilled wizard who is sarcastic, controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish. skilled wizard who has sarcastic, controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:53, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

DATE OF DEATH is incorrect for actor who played Severus Snape. Shows 1998...in his biography it states he played the actor from 2001 - 2011.

Corrections needed on Date of Death. DATE OF DEATH is incorrect for actor who played Severus Snape. Shows 1998 as DOD..in his biography it states he played the actor from 2001 - 2011. This would be impressive if he was truly dead at the time. 71.46.251.180 (talk) 21:07, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Apparently, the character purportedly died in 1998. The actor who played the part, Alan Rickman, died in 2016. There is a difference. Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:13, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
You are refering to the portion of the infobox that is labeled In-universe information. That is, information about the character, as described in the books. Note the "date of birth" also does not match Alan Rickman's... because Alan Rickman is not "in-universe." The dates are for Severus Snape. Magidin (talk) 15:13, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Typo under Half Blood Prince Section

The word "enrol" needs to be spelled "enroll" Julie4js1 (talk) 00:02, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

"Enrol" is actually the standard spelling in British English, which this article uses. Kornatice (talk) 00:07, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Small spelling error

Hello! There is a small spelling error, I believe, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix section, paragraph 2, sentence 3. "Harry 'enrols' in Slughorn's class." I'm pretty sure it should be "enrolls." Thanks! 74.126.231.228 (talk) 01:26, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi, the word is correct as the article uses British English. Poirot09 (talk) 17:47, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
