Omitted that I've discovered: shortly after Maine became an independent state, a 20.5 mile canal connecting the lake to Portland was dug. Eel Weir Dam is on what is left of this canal, the other dam on the natural river outler. GRBerry 02:26, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

I know that the inflow and outflow numbers for the lake don't balance. They don't in the source I got them from. The lake is not significantly growing, so something is missing... GRBerry 02:42, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Inflow vs. Outflow

There are many private and public wells located around the lake in the sandy outwash soils. This may account for your discrepencies... also, is there really a need to mention Bigfoot in this article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.97.230.243 (talk) 18:17, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
