How does the Great Seal of the State of Michigan get adopted in 1835 when Michigan did not enter the Union until 1837?-Godot13 (talk) 21:21, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
- See the various articles about Michigan history, in particular, the Toledo War. Short answer is that Michigan adopted a constitution and formed a state government in 1835, but for various reasons the U.S. Congress did not recognize the government as a state in the Union until 1837. older ≠ wiser 14:12, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
