Need some references

edit

As the article say, this station does not appear in any timetables. Nor is it shown on either the maps at http://map.geo.admin.ch/, or on Google maps. The BOB web site makes no reference. The photograph is a degree of evidence, but it isn't a cite and it is five years old. Don't want to delete this article 'cos my gut says it is right, so I've added the unreferenced template. - Starbois (talk)

While I'm not challenging the provenance of the photograph, I don't think we should consider Sandweid a station--at least not now. Here's why I don't think so:

  • My copy of Eisenbahnatlas Schweiz (published 2012), shows Sandweid as a service station (non-passenger stop).
  • The Bahnprofil Schweiz that accompanies Schiennetz Schweiz (Wägli, 2010), shows the same.
  • Sandweid is included in the service points database from SBB but has IS_HALTESTELLE set to 0 (indicating that it is not a stop/station; many such are included in the dataset).
  • The current timetable for Interlaken Ost–Lauterbrunnen does not show Sandweid. Fahrplanfelder has timetables for this and other routes going back to 2006. I spot-checked several different years and found no mention of Sandweid.
  • There is no mention of Sandweid on the Jungfrau website (owners of Berner Oberland and related companies).
  • It's not shown on the regional bus map for the Lauterbrunnen valley, although Sandweidli, the bus stop approximately 170 metres (560 ft) down the road from Sandweid, is.
  • This isn't a question of a flag/request stop. Many stops in Switzerland include the notation "Halt auf Verlangen", indicating a request stop, but are listed on timetables, shown on maps, and otherwise have a much greater footprint.

Now, all that being said, the bus stop (Sandweidli) does have a small platform that's visible on Google Maps. Per this discussion on Trip Advisor (not reliable but never mind that for this discussion), Sandweidli does have the "secret" request stop feature. The 2014 Jungfrau annual report does report expenditures related to "Station Sandweidli." Again, Sandweidli is listed as a bus station in the service points database and not as a train station.

If you ask me what I think, I think that Sandweid is a control point, and that Sandweidli is a bus stop with a limited off-the-books request stop feature provided for the benefit of the folks who live there. We can verify the bus stop, but most bus stops aren't notable and this one definitely isn't. We can't verify the train service, and even if it does exist, it doesn't exist at the present name.
