editNot to diminish the accomplishment of the Monarchs, but they are not the only Sacramento area professional team to win a major championship. The first team to do so was the Sacramento Solons in the minor league Pacific Coast League 1942. The Sacramento Surge won the WLAF World Bowl title in 1992 and are considered this Sacramento generation's first world champions.
