In September 1937 the SS Antenor was used to transport five giant pandas from Hong Kong to London. During the voyage the four adult pandas ate their way out of their wooden cages and had to be relocated in the potato lockers on the poop deck. On arrival in London it was reported that the pandas were in excellent condition but the potato lockers had been wrecked.
Have added a ref from The Straits Times, 27 November 1938. Has some of the details above, but not the potato locker detail. Rats. Jasper33 (talk) 08:47, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
