Untitled edit

An infobox was requested for the 1957 Chuck Berry recording of "Rock and Roll Music" at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Missing_encyclopedic_articles/List_of_notable_songs/11.  Done

Snobby edit

"The lyrics of the song extoll the virtues of rock and roll in comparison to other musical styles, and express the singer's resolve to dance only to this style of music." I think this quote is one of the best examples of why some people look at Wikipedia as snobbish and obnoxious. It's moronic to expand the phrase "It's gotta be rock n roll music/If you want to dance with me" into this.

Beach Boys section edit

The Beach Boys section shouldn't dominate this article. This was first and foremost a Chuck Berry song, so the article should focus on this original work, not later cover versions. 23skidoo 15:58, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Beach Boys - Rock and Roll Music.jpg edit

Image:Beach Boys - Rock and Roll Music.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:28, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Beatles edit

Does this song really need that HUGE Beatles template at the bottom of the page? Is there some way to perhaps shrink it down? MookieZ 15:55, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed {{The Beatles singles}} because that is typically only used with songs issued as singles. For {{The Beatles}}, you can use the "hide" link to shrink it down... John Cardinal 22:07, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

"overdub was for double-tracking Lennon's vocal" Uh, the vocal is most definitely not double-tracked.--Ten-pint (talk) 23:35, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Personnel on Beatles version edit

In his controversial book, Geoff Emerick claims that Paul McCartney played piano and George Harrison played bass on The Beatles' version of "Rock and Roll Music", but I think that is so unlikely that it would've been happening at this stage, since a) Geoff's book is so full of errors and fabricated rubbish concerning events that didn't involve him and b) it would've been impossible for George to play Paul's left-handed Hofner bass - after all, the song had been in their live set, so it's more than probable that George and John would've been on guitars, Paul on bass, Ringo on drums and perhaps George Martin on piano. 61.69.217.3 (talk) 12:29, 16 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 11 October 2021 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Rock and Roll Music moved to Rock and Roll Music (song), old title redirected to Rock and roll music. (closed by non-admin page mover) Elli (talk | contribs) 18:34, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

"Rock and Roll Music" is confusingly leading to a specific album, when it is in fact a title case spelling of Rock and roll music, and should lead there. Hence:

  1. The two above listed pages should be moved to appropriately disambiguated titles (they are already mentioned at Rock and roll (disambiguation), so no need for a separate one; although a hatnote on both might be usefully)
  2. Rock and Roll Music (and variants, i.e. Rock 'n' Roll Music, ...) should redirect to the same place as Rock and roll music (which is, if you hadn't guessed, Rock and roll)
  3. Rock 'n' Roll Music (album) (and variants, i.e. Rock and Roll Music (album), ...) should redirect to the disambig page.
  4. And of course, existing usage will need to be checked to make sure existing links head to the right place.

Seems like the most sensible way to solve this. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 01:13, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
