Removed text edit

Hi! I've removed large amounts of text from the article. The removal which I expect to be the most controversial is the removal of three paragraphs from the Ubiquiti Networks section, so I'll give my reason in advance: it was content that was related to the company, not so much to Pera. If you disagree with my edit, I'd appreciate it if you could respond here and leave a message on my talk page so that we can work to find a solution together. Your rationale for removing the text (i.e., that the facts relate to Ubiquiti and not solely Pera) is absurd. Pera is primarily known for founding Ubiquiti. Accordingly, it is entirely appropriate for his wiki page to include a high-level overview of the company and why he made the decisions he made in building the company. Take a look at the Bill Gates wiki page - it has several paragraphs about Microsoft's partnership with IBM, Windows OS, etc. By your logic, those should all be deleted because they relate to the company and not soley Gates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.54.45.219 (talk) 16:47, 31 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bill Gates's article is WP:OTHERSTUFF. A high level overview of Ubiquiti Networks should only be provided if absolutely necessary, and even then, it should be kept as short as possible. It's okay to mention the company after this overview, but only if it relates directly to Pera. (Saying something along the lines of "Under the leadership of Pera" is not sufficient to make anything about Ubiquiti automatically relate to Pera.)

Also, perhaps more importantly, the paragraphs that I removed have serious WP:NPOV issues - do you seriously think that the below paragraph is written neutrally?

You have repeatedly deleted information from Pera's bio page, claiming that it relates to the Ubiquiti Networks rather than Robert Pera. The statements below directly relate to Pera rather than Ubqiuiti (they (a) note Pera's title and the fact that, unlike the vast majority of public company CEOs, he does not receive any cash or stock compensation for his services and (b) highlight his very unique "flat" management style). Nevertheless, you deleted both statement several times.

Furthermore, Pera is known primarily because he founded Ubiquiti networks to, among other things, empower independent entrepreneurs to close the digital divide. Accordingly, drawing a clean distinction between Pera and Ubiquiti is, in many cases, quite difficult. Understanding this tension, Wikipedia has afforded latitude to posters in including content in a personal bio that is tangentially related to such person's company. For example, the Wikipedia bio of Bill Gates includes sections detailing (x) Microsoft's partnership with IBM and (y) Gates' management style at Microsoft. Based on the foregoing precedent, the other statements you have previously deleted (see below for example) should be restored.

Under Pera’s leadership, Ubiquiti Networks has made meaningful progress towards closing the digital divide. More than 70 percent of Ubiquiti’s sales are outside of North America and over 20 million Ubiquiti devices have been deployed in over 180 countries, where Ubiquiti’s community of grassroots operators have connected millions of people to the Internet in some of the most remote regions in the world. Ubiquiti Networks, which has been profitable since its formation and whose growth has been funded by its own earnings, went public in October 2011 and has been one of the fastest growing companies in Silicon Valley.

User:Bioupdates, in my previous message, I noted that even if the material was related to Pera, it would fail the WP:NPOV test. In addition, I also linked to the WP:OTHERSTUFF policy. Wikipedia does not recognise the idea of precedent, so it is irrelevant what goes on on Bill Gates' page. (Wikipedia does, however, accept its essays as extremely persuasive.)
