Death of Inglis? edit

Multiple editors keep asserting Inglis is deceased but without a source and no source can be found with Google searches. It seems like someone of his fame would have a notice online somewhere, something, to support this claim. And since BLPs require sources, and he is still within a reasonable age (88 as of this post) people asserting that he is dead will need to provide a reliable source, something, else be reverted. -- GreenC 17:56, 22 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

It happened again, this time with an ambiguous source: it could be any Rob Inglis on page 45. The first claim he was dead was September 2021, and this new source was published in May 2023. The source is related to the performing arts in UK, so it is suggestive of being the same Rob Inglis, but still, there is a lot of uncertainty because there is no other source or obituary anywhere. -- GreenC 18:12, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

OK I got reverted by User:Jkaharper who I assume didn't see my notes here. The problem I see are as listed above: lack of any obits, possibility of another person with the same name, and first reported death on Wikipedia was in 2021, not 2023 (as the article currently reads). I really do believe this is a basic W:BLP problem - even if we assume he is dead, it was probably in 2021, but we have no source for that - and no source claims he died in 2023 either. -- GreenC 19:23, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Point taken regarding previous edits – I have amended the intro according. Seems the family were trying to announce its via here. As per my comments on my previous edit – you cannot have a duplicate name as an actor per Equity laws. It's definitely him. I guess in the spirit of WP:COMMONSENSE which trumps policy we can say two things: he is almost surely dead per the Equity source. And secondly, it was almost certainly his family who reported it here in 2021. As such I would accept the current wording of "date of death unknown" or even possibly a "c. 2021". -- GreenC 20:19, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
