"Second largest" needs explication edit

"The Rio Grande river system is the second largest in the United States" Larger than the Missouri system in square miles? Watershed? Drainage area? "Although some trail advocates would like to see the trail extended the full distance through New Mexico" The description does seem to include that very route--Wetman (talk) 04:28, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Logistics edit

Long distance trails, if they are to be used as such, need good logistics. Eg, for hikers and horse riders someplace to stay overnight every 10 to 20 miles. Bicycle riders can handle longer intervals. NMDOT maps, free by mail on request, include guidance re relative safety of state highway shoulders for bike/ped/equest users, and re which populated places have few or no "services."
