Okay, this is clearly unacceptable. This reads like an ad. A lot of it is going away now. Whoever threw that up there should take a long look at Wikipedia:NOT before republishing.Jacobus 22:01, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Free books

edit

There were quite a few books/music discs for free at the Newcastle student union today. Not sure if this is notable or not. --91.105.112.128 (talk) 20:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not sure. I think a lot of his books and CDs tend to be given away at various venues and events. I was given a free copy of Wild Animus when I went somewhere a couple of years ago. I notice a Wild Animus article has been deleted from Wikipedia in the past, but think it might be worth adding a brief overview of the book to this article, just saying what it's basically about. I might see what I can find online, or dig out my copy and read it again. TheRetroGuy (talk) 14:48, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ah, now Wild Animus was used to redirect here but was deleted following the AfD that deleted this article under speedy deletion criteria G8. Since the deletion of this article was overturned I've restored the redirect. Alzarian16 (talk) 14:52, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Cool, have found quite a good outline from the book's website [1] so have added a couple of sentences to explain what it's about. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 16:01, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Deletion?

Whoever goes for a 4th nomination to delete should review the prior discussions carefully and to construct a persuasive case. It'll be interesting as the guy says he spent half a million dollars to self-promote a book that was given away. That resulted in coverage such as this. If you do an outlandish PR stunt that gets noticed is that coverage independent of the subject or do we need coverage where people dig deeper into the subject to qualify for WP:N? It's a gray zone area that has resulted in keep so far for this article. --Marc Kupper|talk 06:38, 29 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please delete "He lives with his wife and daughters in the Santa Cruz Mountains." Rich Shapero no longer lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and his kids are grown now and he does not live with them. Furthermore, Rich is no longer married. Wikijkc (talk) 19:46, 14 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Rich Shapero has not worked for any VC firm for almost 20 years now. He left Crosspoint Capital in 2004. Technically, he's been writing books longer now than he was in venture capital. Can edits be made to this effect, pleaese: "Rich Shapero (born 1948) is a self-published novelist, and musician. He is the founder of TooFar Media and the recipient of the 2015 Digital Book World Award for Best Adult Fiction App.[2] Previous to being an author, Rich worked in venture capital.[1] Also, this reference [1] is not robust in any way. There are other references that would be more apropos."

Additionally, Rich published his eleventh novel, Beneath Caaqi's Wings (TooFar Media) in July 2023. His other titles that are not mentioned on his page are: Island Fruit Remedy (TooFar Media 2020), Dissolve (TooFar Media 2021), and The Slide That Buried Rightful (TooFar Media 2022).   Not done: This is multiple edit requests - some about the text, one questioning the reliability of a source - that are hard to track and do not clearly specify what should be changed. Please submit requests for each edit individually and please phrase them in a 'change X to Y' format with supporting reliable sources for each. When discussing the reliability of a source, please provide more details for the source than its auto-generated reference number, as this number can easily change when edits to the page are made.
