Most accounts of the event portray thousands of East German citizens (who initially could travel to Hungary relatively easily) fleeing across the border and (mostly) onwards to West Germany.

But how many citizens of other Eastern bloc countries (including Hungary itself) emigrated across the newly opened border in 1989 ? 86.112.90.70 (talk) 11:56, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
