I created this stub for the sole reason: to disambiguate the references in articles from category:Victims of Soviet repressions, since it would be an error to understand the Soviet term as, e.g., rehabilitation (penology) or rehabilitation (political). Rename

Since rehabilitation was also used in the Eastern Bloc countries not in the USSR, I suggest Rehabilitation (law) as a better name.-- _{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk}  21:09, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Please read the article. It was created solely for the reason of frequent mistranslation from Russian language. In English language this notion of "law" is denoted by other words, so adding simply "law" will be incorrect. I don't know what word was used in other communist states. Since Eastern bloc is also equally called Soviet bloc, I see no identification problem with the current title. `'Míkka 03:10, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Highly dubious edit

Someone wrote: "The term was designed to be used in place of "exoneration" or "exculpation", to avoid implications of State's culpability in unjust persecution." This sentence implies lack of knowledge of context and of Russian language. In Russian all three words are translated as reabilitaciya if a single word is used. "Exculpation" may be also translated into Russian legalese as "snyatiye obvineniya", literally "removal of accusation". Similarly with "exoneration". In other words: whatever the terms used they cannot be instrumental to "avoid implications". If you disagree, please provide references towards the claim. `'Míkka>t 22:44, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

False cognate

I think the sentence "Rehabilitation used in this way is a linguistic false cognate for the Russian term reabilitatsiya." should be deleted, because it is actually a correct cognate.--Haspelmath (talk) 11:55, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Needs expansion

This not only is still occurring in the PRC, it has been since its inception and was particularly important (e.g.) in the shift away from the Cultural Revolution and the restoration of the original lyrics of the national anthem. — LlywelynII 10:27, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
