Fixing-up and reverting changes by 80N

edit

This article has been rewritten by what I shall, giving the benefit of the doubt, assume is a bot that wasn't really intended to deal with those constituencies that already had reasonable articles.

I'm making the following changes:

  1. Remove unnecessary disambiguation header
  2. Remove statement It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. as this is true of all UK constituencies and doesn't need repeating 600-odd times
  3. Remove {{sect-stub}} from section on boundaries; this is a full list of the wards and parishes in the constituency
  4. Remove {{expand list}} from section 'Member of Parliament'; how can you possibly expand the list when it contains the one and only MP.
  5. Put the 1997 results into the same template format as the 2001 results, so the contrast doesn't look so manky.

Removing Individual Pages

edit

There has been a systematic removal of all pages created for the individuals running in this election. The pages for the individuals are relevant, and meet all of Wikipedia's criteria for 'biographies of living persons'. Could the person doing this please explain themselves, because much time and effort has gone into creating these pages, and there is no apparent reason for their removal.

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfehenson (talkcontribs) 22:27, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you read the final edit summary for Naz Sarkar = "(Reverted good faith edits by Wolfehenson; As noted previously theis artcile fails WP:POLTICIAN so reverted to redircet as per [[WT:WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom#Articles on Prospective)". A politician is not notable in Wikipedia terms until they have won an election - candidates do not meet the guidelines (unless they have won an earlier election)  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:32, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I did read that, but I saw no guidelines. The fact is, Naz has won an election: he served as a councillor in Walthamstow. Same was [[Gareth Epps], a parliamentary candidate for Reading East, who's page has been left alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfehenson (talkcontribs) 08:34, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The guidelines are at WP:POLITICIAN. The discussions on this are at WT:WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom. Thanks for letting us know about Epps, I have redirected that page. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 08:48, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Being a councillor is not notable enough, and please do not assume that because one candidate's page has survived that others will, it just means that they have not all been found (yet).  Ronhjones  (Talk) 14:26, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Roman Party

edit

I added the Roman Party candidate, Philip West, to the candidate/result table. I had to list him as an independent. When I tried putting in Roman Party as the party, it brought up a template error.86.2.12.245 (talk) 07:04, 8 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
