I admire his intensity. If everyone approached their job with that much focus the results would have to be positive.

I agree, Ray is obviously intent on perfection in every nuance of his performance with great enthusiasm hardly seen elsewhere, it's fantastic.

Did Ray Cooper ever play with Dennt Laine & The Moody Blues? When I look at the old "GO NOW" video, there is a left handed tambourine player behind Denny Laine, who's style is very similar to Cooper's. PHOTO!

I just can't believe that there are no photos of Ray Cooper around. He is often seen in dozens of videos in the Royal Albert Hall. C'mon folks, you who have watched Mark Knopfler, Sting, Eric Clapton, and in particular, the chosen percussionist for Elton John's performances, (don't quote me on that; I can't find the freaking reference when it really counts :|) he's the cool dude in the back by the gong, with the bald head who often wears shades. He has the art of percussion down. If people think of drummers as percussionists, this man has made it a life's work alone. OK, I found a photo from January 2010, and created an infobox and put all that I can find iin the text into it, with the photo. It still would be nice to have more than one, but I also did a fair amount of general cleanup, and until the text is chronological and easy to follow, I think another one should wait to reflect the wording.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 20:48, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Rick Wakeman

Ray Cooper recently worked on Rick Wakeman: The Six Wives of Henry VIII - Live at Hampton Court Palace which was released in Oct 2009 on DVD and Blu-ray. I think this should be added to Ray Cooper's information especially since his work is so visible during the performance. svanloon 19:01, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

He is credited on that album (The Six Wives of Henry VIII) for percussion work. So he was merely reprising his studio work live. StephenSmith (talk) 20:17, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

birth date

There is a conflict on the page re date of birth as 19 August or 19th September, both are listed, it can only be one! -- do we have a reliable source to settle this? Peter morrell 07:07, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Good catch. I used the only reference listed and made it August. There was also a year conflict also (1942 vs 1945) so I updated that too. If a better source can be found, we can change them in the future.MartinezMD (talk) 07:24, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Recent Work

The info provided is wrong. Elton and Ray did seven shows in September/October 2009 and have done more since. This is actually mentioned earlier in the article. "Massive Favourite"

Different Ray Cooper living in Malmkoping Sweden - please remove

They have mixed it up pretty bad, with a major gaffe. This is not THE Ray Cooper who lives in Malmköping Sweden. I know. I live there. It's another one, less famous, multininstrumentalist who plays violin, cello in a folk music group. Not the one in this article. Hey, there can be more musicians with the same name, that get mixed up. The "Malmkoping" Ray doesn't even look remotely like THE Ray Cooper.

Traveling Wilburys

I have never proposed any edits to a Wikipedia page but happened to notice that while Ray Cooper contributed to both Traveling Wilburys albums (according to Traveling Wilburys Wikipedia page), there is no mention of this on Ray Cooper's Wiki page.
