Ranjit Singh "part of a powerful family that has dominated the state's politics" or not? edit

Hi @50FN1 - with this edit you removed text I added describing Ranjit Singh as "part of a powerful family that has dominated the state's politics". Per WP:BRD I'm bringing this to the talk page. Here are sources from the last 20 years that confirm this: "The Chautala family has dominated the political scene in Haryana for decades.", "Haryana is awash with political families but a bitter feud has seen the spotlight firmly fixed on one of the most prominent among them — the Chautalas.", "the politics of Haryana has been in dominance of the families of three Lals. Late Devi Lal (and after him, Om Prakash Chautala) and Bansi Lal had been the supreme leaders of their parties INLD and HVP respectively....Devi Lal had been a great and influential politician in Haryana....He groomed his sons Ranjit Singh and Om Prakash Chautala as politicians of future.", "The Chautala family has for long dominated every aspect of public life in Haryana." I removed it because the family was not just dominating in one state but the entire India during 1989 to 1998. Chaudhary Devi Lal sacrificed his post of being Prime Minister twice and made V.P Singh and Chander Shekhar as Prime Minister. Chaudhary Devi Lal was a king maker later he helped HD Devegowda and IK Gujral also in becoming PM. So it would be wrong to say that they were just dominating a state, you can write that they had political influence all over the country. Chaudhary Devi Lal was given the title of "Tau" of India which means father's elder brother.

Hi - what sources indicate that the Chautala family dominated national politics? No doubt influential for a period, but not dominant at national level. On the other hand, sources clearly indicate dominance of Haryana politics, rather than just influence. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 10:13, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
