Talk:Puyallup Tribe of Indians

Merger edit

I feel that the article Emerald Queen Casino should be merged with Puyallup (tribe) as their is very little information pertaining to the casino and therefore, I do not feel that it is substantial enough to stand alone. T. White 09:15, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please see comments on Talk:Muckleshoot in regards Native American article standards; there is no way the Emerald Queen Casino article should be merged with what should be an ethnographic article on the Puyallup people/culture; and even if there were an article on the Puyallup government - which there should be - the casino is still a different enough institution to be a separate article from any government page, since the tribe/band isn't only (presumably) about the casino.Skookum1 04:02, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
i find it extremely hard to believe that over 30% of Washington state's area belongs to the Puyallup reservation. That is definitely wrong data (the map image also shows a much smaller area.) Washington has an area of little over 75000 square miles while this article claims that the reservation is over 28000 square miles - gotto be wrong. If anyone has the correct data please act. Best! 21:40, 06 April 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.99.167.127 (talk)

There were some untrue statements, i changed them to the best of my ability, and added ?? next to the things i didnt know 100%.

Council edit

In regards to the question noted in the article of 'when did Herman Dillon Sr. become Tribal Chairman?', it appears he was elected in 2000[1]. I found several references to Chairman Dillon as the current chairman after that date (e.g. 2001[2], 2004-2009[3][4][5][6][7][8]), and no references to other chairs, so I believe it has been continuous. Hopefully someone else will have a better reference. —Preceding unsigned comment added on 21:57, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Requested move 21 February 2024 edit

Puyallup peoplePuyallup Tribe of Indians – Article is about the federally-recognized tribe/governmental body, not about the ethnic group. I am writing an article about the ethnic group specifically, but it doesn't belong in the same belong in the same article as the one about the tribal government. One article covering both things would be overly massive, and this follows the current precedent of having an article for the tribal institution and the people. • Support. If you have a plan for the articles, that sounds fine. Especially since it would provide more of a searchable history than if you cut-and-pasted the Puyallup Tribe of Indians material into a new article. Yuchitown (talk) 23:21, 21 February 2024 (UTC)YuchitownReply

  • Comment - I participated in the parallel discussion at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests and there has been no opposition to the move idea. I will complete the move shortly; after that the "Puyallup people" namespace will still exist in the form of a redirect with no content, so that will be the place for PersusjCP to develop the new article on the ethnic group. Thanks everyone for your work. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 17:58, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
