Talk:Protection of Persons and Property (Ireland) Act 1881

Arrest and imprisonment not the same

edit

The article states that the Acts allowed authorities to "arrest without trial persons "reasonably suspected" of crime and conspiracy." Arrest and trial are different things. No one is arrested "With" a trial. I suggest that what is meant is "Arrest, and detain without charging a person who is "reasonably suspected" of crime and conspiracy" - if that is what the Act provided.Royalcourtier (talk) 04:54, 20 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Name of act and article

edit

Although I moved this article from Protection of Person and Property Act 1881 to Protection of Persons and Property Act 1881 with reason "correct and usual name" I think I was hasty; I am no longer sure what the "correct" or "usual" name is. I have added a footnote explaining; if anyone wants to move the article back to the old name, I have no objection. jnestorius(talk) 14:29, 16 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
