There have been several notable progressive collapses that have occurred that currently aren't in this article. Among them the Vieira Fazenda office block collapse in Rio de Janeiro (2012), the Savar building collapse in Bangladesh (2013), the collapse of the Royal Plaza Hotel in Thailand (1993), the Pétionville school collapse in Haiti (2008), the Zolitūde shopping center roof collapse in Latvia (2013), the Versailles wedding hall disaster in 2001 (a very famous example), and countless others. There were over a thousand casualties in just the examples above.
Since there have been many notable examples of progressive collapse throughout the world that aren't listed, I'm a little unclear as to whether this article is only focusing on examples in western civilizations, or in non-third world countries.
Should there be a requirement for a collapse to be cited as an example in order to separate the hundreds of examples that occur each year from the ones listed on this page? For example, at least one person must have been killed in the collapse to be listed as an example?
The focus of all the examples seems to be specifically on the causes of each collapse, which seems to separate it from other lists on wikipedia of building collapses (most of which just list number killed, where it occurred, or the outcome -- as opposed to a specific focus on the factors which initiated the progressive collapse). This seems like a good focus for the page if that's the key goal, but it seems like this intention isn't consistent throughout all the examples as some deviate and focus on what people said or where people were or other details that are irrelevant to the engineering factors behind the various collapses.
If this page is about the causes behind each incident of progressive collapse (engineering factors), then again, what should be the criteria? More than a certain amount of progressive damage? More than a certain number of fatalities? Or some combination of both? A lot of examples of both partial progressive collapse as well as total progressive collapse occur every year. Often times partial progressive collapses of major structures result in far more damage than the total progressive collapses of other structures. Thus, I feel it would be beneficial to layout some criteria for valid additions to the list.
