This should really be an article about the named person. Also some neutralification would be a good idea. For example, Hezbollah may be 'defined by the US government as a terrorist organisation' but the truth is that there are lots of different arms of Hezbollah, and not all of them are terrorist. The concensus of church members and the media was that political actions by these PCUSA staff members were specifically designed to show support for the palestinian cause, irregardless of the methods employed by their leaders, including murder and assault on civilians. Also, this action was soon followed by the ill-conceived "divestment" of businesses in Israel, a method of posturing to show disdain for Israeli policy, which was rejected outright by the General Assembly the following year. The PCUSA membership and churches were outraged, and the staff involved in the meetings was punished for their actions. Two were fired, and the rest reprimanded because of the terrorist connections with the Hezbollah leaders with whom they met. (msholtva, 6/2006)

Requested move/merge

Per reasons mentioned at Talk:PC(USA) Divestment from Israel, I am recommending that the controversy material for Presbyterian Church (USA) be merged and moved to one "breakout" article. I'd like to hear any better suggestions on the name, Current controversies regarding the Presbyterian Church (USA). KWH 06:40, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

I am not opposed to the merging of these two article, I do oppose the proposed name however. There are other controversies within the PC(USA) that are bigger then these two topics. A better name would be along the lines of Presbyterian Church (USA) controversies regarding the Middle East

Peterson v. Islamic Republic of Iran
