editThere's no English article on flax/hemp shives. The only mention of them is in the article on Linen. Should we link shives to the Polish article, http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pa%C5%BAdzierze, or not even bother? (Ideally, someone writes an English one, but I don't know textiles well enough to try).
