Image inquiry edit

I am intendiing to mail the company to ask for some pictures. However, I still need to find a good link for the copyright stuff (I know its on here, I just need to find it). Until I have the time, I will drop the letter draft here:

Hello,

I am one of the editors of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. I have since some time been working on the article about your mine, which you can find at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pike_River_mine

(the article is also amongst the first link showing up on Google if you search for 'Pike river mine', by the way)

I was curious if you would be able to provide photographs of the mine (exterior, interior, mining operations etc...) for use on the article. Obviously it is rather hard for a Wikipedian to just nip down to your site!

If you would consider providing photos, we would need your permission regarding their use - according to either of the following licenses (Wikipedia, often being copied into other websites and used by so many people, has relatively strict standards for what images it can accept): —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ingolfson (talkcontribs) 09:26, 2 March 2008 (UTC) Reply

Mine accident edit

Once more info is known about the accident, it may be worth splitting it out into a separate article. Certainly there's not enough known at present, but it is the biggest mining accident in NZ since at least the 1960s, and possibly since World War I. Grutness...wha? 22:48, 19 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

That has now happened; see Pike River Mine accident. Schwede66 20:05, 20 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

The bold text in the accident category is really un-encyclopedic, its more a headline and while this is significant and tragic news it is already placed in the main article for the accident. This is not a news article, unless anyone else objects I am just going to remove it Murdats (talk) 04:30, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pike River Coal Ltd stub edit

FYI - Created Pike River Coal Ltd page, to start developing information on the actual holding company, as opposed to the mine, although both are tied....especiall as official inquiries, and likely court cases will develop from the mining disaster. teinesaVaii (talk) 06:58, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
