  • this article seems a bit thin on information. e.g.: what about petunias being perennial? different varieties? origin? perhaps this article should be labelled a stub? --Stewartjohnson 01:52, 15 January 2006 (UTC)asdfsafReply

French edit

Amazonia was a colony in the hands of the Portuguese seems highly unlikely the word came from French? Are you sure it was them? Where was it located?

Sexual reference edit

The entire bottom half of the article as currently written seems off. The-bus 14:49, 21 March 2007 (UTC) HII!!!Reply

Sexual reference edit

Agreed. So I took out this bit:

Petunia is also used as a slang phrase in parts of Western Europe, to signify the attractiveness or otherwise of the female sexual organ. It became popular in repressed Ireland but is now widely used in the Euro-zone. Mainly the preserve of lesbian groups it has gained popularity in recent months in straight crowds, largely due ot its use in cutting edge comedy routines in the UK.

If someone wishes to create a "petunia-slang" entry, he/she is welcome to it.

Catagories edit

I am going to be adding a new section for catagories - namely I will add listings for the main four types of petunias - Grandiflora, Multiflora, Milliflora, and groundcover. Let me know if anyone has an issue on this. I will also be adding some of the missing citations and maybe some better images. Bobinmpls (talk) 16:11, 2 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Preferred conditions? edit

I was reading some other flower entries that had information about the flowers' preferred conditions (sunny/shady, lots of water, drier, etc.). It seems this information is missing for petunias and would be helpful. - cm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.40.255.135 (talk) 15:17, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Gallery edit

Pakistani editor Aftabbanoori added to the gallery several similar images labelled 'Petunia in Pakistan'. I removed the whole gallery because it doesn't comply with recommendations in WP:Galleries and WP:NOTREPOSITORY. A user based in Pakistan then reverted me. While a couple of the gallery images could be moved into the article text, there is no justification under Wikipedia's guidelines to have so many similar images depicting nothing in particular other than various unidentified petunias. Adding specification edit

Hi, if its OK with you I'd like to start editing the article and thought about starting with the sub-types of petunias, perhaps describing what the differences are between them. I will strive for WP:RS and the other rules. (I'm not yet two months old so I would appreciate your feedback). I don't mind if you just revert the edit with a small note as the reason.
