This article has potential to be alot more than it is. At the moment, it could be titled "Pet dogs in Japan", because it focuses exclusively on dogs. Where is the information about cats, hamsters, goldfish, and the massive kabuto mushi industry? Is there any information about laws or animal control agencies? Just some suggestions for the improvement of the article. Also, drop all the "in recent years"; either write a year, or do not. Good luck to the editor who wishes to improve this article. According to whom, quantify, citation needed? The citations are in the article and not usually placed in the lede, and they are all correct. I'm removing the bullshit. GreaseballNYC (talk) 02:53, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

It does seem to be contradictory - it states that in a minority of cases pets are considered part of the family, and then follows up by saying for many Japanese pets are like children. -- User:ZayZayEM
