The image File:Penny gadget.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Requested move 1 October 2016

edit
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: WP:SNOW close. I'm closing this discussion to prevent confusion regarding this request. As pointed out in the discussion, this page is currently a redirect; if the newly-proposed title should also be a redirect towards the current target, it can be created separately. Also, the nominator did not provide rationale or intent to have the current title deleted after the move (which would need a WP:RFD nomination), so there doesn't seem to be anything to do here at the present time. In addition, this redirect is currently listed for discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2016 October 1#Penny (Inspector Gadget), so consensus regarding this redirect should be formed via discussion there. Penny (Inspector Gadget)Penny Ruth – although we've never been told her last name, Penny indicates her middle name is Ruth in the episode "Evil U" of the 2015 series, so this serves WP:NATDAB purposes. Ranze (talk) 03:35, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

This is redirect not an article so what would be the point of moving this?--70.27.228.184 (talk) 04:32, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Also, even if this was an aricle it still should not be moved since WP:NATURAL states that we should not use obscure names and I see a surname indicated in a single episode as easily qualifying as obscure especially when you take into account that the franchise contains several previous TV series's and two feature films that never used the surname Ruth..--70.27.228.184 (talk) 04:39, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: Most readers won't know the middle name, so the move would not be helpful and would not be in line with the "common name" policy, and it's only a redirect. —BarrelProof (talk) 15:25, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose as BarrelProof says In ictu oculi (talk) 18:32, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Go-go-Gadget Oppose per BP. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:36, 2 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Reliable sources

edit

For this to survive as an article on its own, some reliable sources would be useful to support it, I would like to suggest we compile some here which can be used to support statements made about the character. To start things off:

Ladurantaye, Steve (July 2013). "Inspector Gadget grows up: Teletoon resurrecting cartoon series". An older, more sophisticated Penny is just one of the changes made to the classic cartoon series .. as Gadget bungles the file, his niece Penny and her dog Brain secretly do the detective work .. Penny will be older

The above supports her being Gadget's niece (common knowledge) and her being older in the 2015 series than in the 1983 series (also pretty obvious looking at the artwork). Ranze (talk) 03:55, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
