Altered erroneous last sentence. There is no evidence whatsoever to link Peetie with the modern Crossroads myth. And his death was extensivly reported, both locally and nationally.DavidCrosbie (talk) 17:57, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I deleted the following paragraph from the section "Influence", on grounds of insignificance:

Wheatstraw is mentioned in the song "Letters Sent" by the band Half Man Half Biscuit on their 2005 album Achtung Bono.
