2007 Threat

stop taking this off. i am a student that goes to pascack valley high school. and this really did happen. stop removing it.

• The fact that it occurred, does not make it encyclopedic. Not only is the May 2007 incident unsupported with a reliable and verifiable source as required, it wasn't even mentioned in The Record, the area's main newspaper. Even with sources it probably doesn't belong here. Without them it cannot be retained. Alansohn 23:16, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
• Why wouldnt it belong here its a fact and it happened. ask anyone who goes there they know it happened. So i am going to post it back up there. you probaly work for the school and dont want this up there. It happned so its going up there
• Wikipedia requires sources. See WP:ATT for details of Wikipedia's attribution policy. The fact that somebody "knows" it happened doesn't help unless there are reliable and verifiable sources to support the fact that the event happened. To be absolutely honest, I'm not even sure where the school is located. If you have any sources to support this event, I will be more than happy to assist you in adding the material. • I have proof that this event did occur if you read the article link title you will realize this event did take place. So i am going to post this back up on wikipedia i have shown u proof now stop taking this off. Thank you

Well, it is verified. I doubt if this ia a major incident in the school's history (when I went there was a stink bomb that evacuated the school, in 1980, so these things have happened). I doubt it is encyclopedic, though, but I have no desire to spark an edit war, so I say leave it for now and re-evaluate later.--Wehwalt 11:02, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

I just deleted the claimed 30% drop in GPA from the 1:1 laptop section, primarily because it was uncited. Additionally, I was a student at PVHS for the first two years of the 1:1 initiative, and my personal feelings are that there may have been a small decrease, but nothing as drastic as 30%. I went down a third of a point, and I'm fairly average. Obviously anecdote counts for little to nothing, but making such a sweeping claim without verification or citation is incorrect. --129.21.110.20 02:26, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

I rephrased it. Evidently, there WERE concerns, or they wouldn't have gone to the restricted setup. I've done a lot of rephrasing and updating, but I'm an alumnus, and someone who goes or teaches there now really needs to go through the article carefully for accuracy and the like. "The school recently began cut its German program and it will be phased out in two years." OK, so did the school recently begin its German program, recently cut it, or both? In any case, this needs to be rephrased. (Since it is to be "phased out in two years" - from when? - one would assume that it was recently cut...) -- Pawl 20:21, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I imagine the intent was to say that German I would no longer be offered, but that students already in the program would be allowed to complete it. But what do I know?--Wehwalt 21:19, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Dr. Sapienza

Yesterday, I received the following email on the school listserv:

January 29, 2008

Dear Parents,

I have some very sad news for our school community. Dr. Barbara Sapienza, principal of Pascack Valley High School, had knee surgery last Wednesday due to an arthritic condition. Shortly after the operation, she went into a deep coma.

At this date, Dr. Sapienza remains in a coma, and we can not anticipate the outcome of her current condition.

I am writing to you to ask that you discuss this situation with your child. It is most important that you talk to your child about this and listen to what he or she has to say. Some may be more affected than others. In all cases, please be supportive and empathetic.

On Wednesday, during first period, all teachers will be reading a script about the situation with their students. We use a script so that all students will receive the same message. Teachers will take as long as they feel is needed for discussion and will resume instruction as they deem appropriate.

After the first period discussion, our counselors and Child Study Team, under the guidance of the Bergen County Trauma Response Team, will be available to assist and comfort any student or staff member in need.

Dr. Sapienza has been in the district for 40 years, serving as principal for the past 14 years. Our students, staff and community will be deeply affected by her absence. She has dedicated her life to Pascack Valley High School and her commitment to our entire community has been extraordinary.

At this time Mr. Tom DeMaio, who has been an assistant principal at Pascack Valley High School, will be the acting principal.

PLEASE DO NOT TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT THIS SITUATION UNTIL HE OR SHE HAS COME HOME. STUDENTS WILL NEED YOUR GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT AS THEY HEAR THIS SAD NEWS TODAY.

I will keep everyone informed as we learn more about the situation.

Dr. Sapienza, a dedicated teacher, mentor, colleague, friend and principal, devoted forty years of service to the Pascack Valley Regional High School District and surrounding communities. As principal of the Pascack Valley High School for the past fourteen years, Dr. Sapienza inspired teachers, students, and families with her enthusiasm and love for education. As we mourn her loss, we will honor her accomplishments by carrying on the proud traditions she estabished at Pascack Valley.

School will be in session tomorrow. State HSPA testing will proceed as scheduled.

Please take this opportunity to speak with your child about our loss. Counselors will be available, if needed, for our students throughout the day.

Porn incident

I just don't think the porn incident is very notable. Just because it is recent, and in the paper, doesn't mean we should include it. It is not really relevant to PV's history. There have been other incidents from time to time. This really isn't important.--Wehwalt (talk) 11:08, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
